I'm really surprised by the low review ratings! I've had nothing but good experiences with Ally. They offer simple, hassle-free banking and have exceeded my expectations.

I mainly use Ally's online savings account feature, which has an excellent APY that increases pretty frequently. I have set amounts transferred each week from my checking account into a few different savings accounts and although the transactions do take a day or two to be finalized, they've always come through without a hitch.

I can't speak about their loans, credit cards or investment options; but I'd recommend Ally for anyone who's looking for a way to simplify their banking and meet their savings goals.

Customer Service is available 24/7 over the phone, and I've always been able to reach an actual human within minutes when I call.

The only reason I've ever had to call Customer Service was to open additional savings accounts, never because of a problem. But the reps have always been friendly and informed. Oh, and for mobile users or people who prefer to handle things online rather than over the phone, their app is excellent.

I recommend Ally to anyone who asks!

If you read the reviews carefully, you'll see a pattern. Do they care about you as a customer? No. Do they care about their bottom line? Yes. They claim to be "customer friendly" but it is obvious that they are anything but.

I purchased a vehicle from a firm that had financed through Ally. My bank sent the payoff to Ally EXACTLY as instructed which was by mail. Ally was a total pain in the backside to deal with. Customer service will give you canned answers unless you call them out on it.
Payment was sent via FedEx and arrived and was signed for at 9:41am the next morning (Tuesday). All that needed to happen was for them to apply the CASHIERS CHECK to the payoff and release the lien. Sounds easy enough, right? WRONG!!
The seller called Ally daily for updates and responded that they normally deal only with electronic transactions and since we'd sent a physical check they would have to walk it through physically. After 4 days of this same story, my bank called (Friday) and spoke with Ally customer service and they acknowledged the receipt of the check, but said that it normally takes 1-2 business days to process the release...are you seeing the problem with that answer?
It was now my turn to make a call (Monday). I spoke with ELLA and she kept giving me wrong answers regarding the arrival of the check and that it takes 10 business days and other BS. I flat told her that what she was telling me was not true and provided the facts including who had signed for the FedEx package. She placed me on hold for a few minutes and came back on the line with the TOTALLY MIRACULOUS news that the lien had been released!
OMG!! REALLY?? This is SERVICE????
So lien released, vehicle in my possession, but of course the title has yet to appear so the vehicle is useless without registration/tags!
The time for patience has long since expired, let me assure you. I will be on their case to push this through!! COUNT ON IT!!
Another thing you can count on is that I will NEVER be a customer of Ally Bank! NEVER NEVER NEVER!!!
Bunch of lying YUCCAMUFFINS!
I'll use a REAL bank, thank you very much!! A REAL BANK!
CONSUMER BEWARE!!

Was very surprised to see the overall low ranking of Ally on here. They give me the best savings rate of anybody, hands down. I use their checking and savings accounts for my emergency fund(s) that I transfer money into from my primary checking account, so I am typically not interacting with the site or customer service very much but you can't get mad at 1.45% interest these days.

I recently purchase a 2019 ram through a fca dealer who recommended Ally. This was a total mistake as ally has the worst customer service I've ever had with any financial institution. All support is overseas and is just HORRIBLE. Lesson learned, I will be moving this loan to my local community bank in the next two weeks. I even called the dealer and told them they should be ashamed of recommending Ally. They agreed that that they've had many issues and apologized So I'm not real happy with the dealer either.

This is one of those places you review where you wish negative stars were an option. The operators hardly understand English and are in no way helpful. There is an overage of about $1,700 from my auto loan I had with them that is due back to me. They told me to wait 60 days after the loan was paid off, so I did. Then they told me it would be another 120 days from today (the day I called). So 6 months for a refund of my own money; absolutely ridiculous. I will NEVER consider business with them again. Do yourself a favor and steer clear.

So I've had this account for two days and let me tell you this is super sketch. Like, really sketch. In the past two days alone, my password has had attempts at being changed like 5 times. My phone banking PIN was changed. I had nothing to do with this. I didn't try to change my password, I didn't try to change my telephone banking pin. Called the bank to express my concerns of being hacked, and apparently "loss prevention" is changing my password? Loss prevention is trying to hack me? That's really weird. So basically I'm being hacked within like two days of having this account and now I have to close it and they're making it a huge hassle. Still trying to get on the phone with "loss prevention" to figure out why they're changing my password and my pin numbers of an account that isn't even a week old. Good thing I haven't even gotten the chance to put any money in the account :)

This bank let me set up an account and then I transferred money....then they froze my account. So this bank that I have been with for 2 days has a lump sum of money of mine and locked me out of my account. I talked with the customer service and they said they could not verify my identity.... I have three homes. Maybe that was the case? BUT I told the woman on the phone...I am in business. You have my money and now want to further verify my identification. I suggested MAYBE you should have done that BEFORE you allowed a customer to open an account and transfer money over. NO. Freeze the account and forward me to Fraud to speak to some other lady that is not in the office at the moment. It is okay, I have other accounts BUT wellsfargo or any other bank would never do this. They want me to email my social security card and other IDs...this is not safe. Gmail is not secure. I am at a lost. I open an account to make some high level interest and I then get locked out of my account and my funds are not available to me until I talk with fraud. What a horrible feeling...like cyber space stole my money. Will get this resolved within a couple of days BUT man...this would be a great time to go into a local bank and chat in person with someone. I feel disconnected with my money and I feel like I trusted some random online bank. I am in my twenties so no issue with technology here! Go to your local bank, if there are any issues...it will be fixed.

I recently financed my car through Ally Bank and it has been the worse experience yet.... They may be a good bank so I am not going to bash them. But with the experience I have had make me not want to ever use them again. I have had my account over drawn twice because they would take out 2 car payments in a month instead of 1. Also, I called to see what I could do. Because I am a college student so there for my money is very limited, they told me that I am the one that presses the pay button not them. But I don't remember pressing it twice. So moral of my nightmare story, please do not finance with Ally Bank when needing a car loan or any loan... You may get into some serious trouble.

**DO NOT USE ALLY IF YOU VALUE YOUR SECURITY**

**DO NOT USE ALLY IF YOU VALUE YOUR SECURITY**
Just confirmed this on the phone today-- they are blocking those that use VPN services from accessing their website or app! As you hear all the time, to improve your security online (especially using free WiFi in coffee shops), they say to USE A VPN! And yet Ally is now blocking us! After being a 10+ year customer, I'll be moving my money elsewhere. Horribly poor business decision they've made. The security equivalent of a sledgehammer!

I made a payment before the date of my auto draft and not only did they still run the auto draft, but charged me twice. I keep getting routed to offshore call centers and they are trained to repeat themselves and not resolve issues. I will be refinancing my car with another company and have made a claim with my bank. Next will be BBB. Horrible horrible horrible business practices. They should be shut down.

WORST BANK EXPERIENCE IN LAST 30 YEARS and WORST C...

WORST BANK EXPERIENCE IN LAST 30 YEARS and WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE - I opened a CD with Ally Bank and verified electronic transfer from a brokerage account to Ally account. As with any other such transfer, Ally deposited two small amounts which I verified on Ally website. I thought I was all set with my account and transfer would happen in couple of days. After 3 days, I received e-mail that my account was suspended. I called Customer Service and got a run around and after 3 calls and 3 days of waiting for their response, I just asked them to close my account. I will never do business with them again.

Please read this review before signing documents w...

Please read this review before signing documents with Ally - Ally is an advertised "online bank" that is some reconstructed version of GMAC. All customer service is provided offshore - likely the Philippines (which is common these days). When simply considering moving an auto loan into the name of my business and requesting information to possibly refinance and/or pay-off. I was told they can only send/receive info by fax. This is an "online" bank? Fax only? And only a 48 hour turnaround commitment which they missed and repeatedly told me was a "priority". I had to call more than 6 times before I finally received copies of documents, and ultimately missed an important deadline that cost me more money. This is another one of "those" companies that sits behind the scenes of auto dealers, takes your money, generates high profits for a small group of people and utilizes poorly trained cheap offshore labor to offset higher than average kickbacks to dealers, and after the sale provide you with as little as possible. Be aware and choose your finance company wisely.

Their home loan division is awful. What happened...

Their home loan division is awful. What happened from our approval to the loan falling apart was *mostly* beyond their control. What was in their control was how poorly they communicated with me.

People changed a few times in a few weeks and emails took days to be answered. The final issue was the cash to close and nobody even bothered to break the news to me, I had to find it out on my own.

I would never have left a review if the ball had been dropped once or twice but having to always play chase is a dealbreaker with something so important as a home loan.

Maybe its best to stick with your local bank or CU

Was working on a refinance when they dropped the ball on some paperwork. We decided to walk away after they came back with closing costs that were over double the original estimate. Plus the mortgage specialist we were working with left halfway through the process, twice.

NEVER BANK WITH THEM AND STOP NOW. I used to be a customer of almost 10 years and carried deposits with them but left after their wiring department was incompetent for my personal transactions. But worse, my client was party to a real estate transaction and ordered a wire. Ally Bank initiated the wire but their fraud department snagged the transaction for review for 9 hrs WITHOUT NOTIFYING ANYONE. This caused my client to be in breach of contract and lose thousands of dollars for no good reason. NEVER BANK WITH ALLY!

I would give them a 0 if it would allow it. The customer service is the worst I have ever experienced! The manager Nettie is just as bad, makes promises she will call back to resolve issues and never does when you call back they say there is no Nettie that works there however I spoke with her twice. Stay as far away as possible!!!!!

PAID FOR AN EARLY 5 MONTH TERMINATION OF MY CADILL...

PAID FOR AN EARLY 5 MONTH TERMINATION OF MY CADILLAC LEASE> Paid extra for wear and tear Smart-Lease and my CTS was inspected clear at surrender. Ally turned me over to their "Collection Dept" for $500- damage claim? Showed my acceptance of my short-term lease finalization at Cadillac, but they ignored my fax and letters. Now they call every Saturday to harass me with a different collector. Cease and desist or ALLY is going to Small Claim Court for remunerations?

I can't wait for them to be sued again. They forgot about getting caught discriminating against minorities and losing a lawsuit close to a 100 million. Pigs will always be pigs.
