The Premier brewery in san Diego. Every beer I tried here was spot on. As the reviews indicate it's a place you shouldn't miss if you are in San Diego. Comfortable and open, no line to grab a beer, super friendly staff, awesome baseball museum, dogs too. Overall it was great and I would highly recommend the Horney Devil! the horney devil is a wonderful belgian strong ale! Cheers we will be back. Thanks AleSmith!

I've never been a huge fan of the beers I have found of theirs out of state but coming here was a totally different experience. This place is fantastic. The beer is great and the selection is awesome. They were a bit too busy and they don't have enough staff waiting on customers but it's a fantastic place to visit.

A MUST place 5o check out in SD. The place is so huge, they even have the second floor if it's too crowded during the weekends. Their beers of course are very good, you will have more choices at the brewery which is way way better. We tried different versions of the speedy stout and they didn't disappoint us at all, very tasty. We loved the beers here very much, one of the best breweries around the states. The staff was so friendly and attentive. There are many seating options for group or couples or even single person at the bar. Everything is right here

After living in San Diego well over 30 years, I made it to Alesmith (love the Speedway and .394). Great place with indoor and outdoor seating with a firepit area. What I liked the most was the Tony Gwynn museum. Wow! I have been a Padre fan since day one here and have never seen anything like that. There are so many amazing and important artifacts of his in the museum. All 6 of his silver bats are there along with all of the rings he got
for his batting titles. Very touching and awesome. Tony will live here forever. Thanks Alesmith and all behind such an awesome creation.

Great beers. Lots of 'seasonal' varieties that change often as well as all the delicious staples that made them great. Small food choices and rotating food trucks help maintain the balance. Eating isn't cheating!

I've been drinking AleSmith's beers for a LONG time but never actually made it out to the tasting room until last month. Very clean, professional looking space. I always feel that AleSmith is the most consistent brewery in San Diego. Always putting out quality beers, no gimmicks, professional, understated, quality. Speedway Stout is probably my favorite beer I've ever had by any brewery. If you go to the tasting room they usually have various special versions on. Tasters are very reasonable. They offer brewery tours. The tasting room is clean, and family friendly.

Walked over here while my car is being serviced. Had to check out the new building! I like it! Very modern. They added a souvenir shop and an event space above. There's a Polish food truck here today, which is cool! I wish that they'd add a kitchen or the like, but I guess the food trucks will suffice. Love their Speedway Stouts. They have 2 new (to me) versions today... I am proud to have these guys here as part of the San Diego Craft Brewery legacy.

My husband and I loved this place! Such a chill vibe and our dog was allowed even inside!
The food trucks were okay, no dessert though...
I wish they had a cider, but that s a personal preference.

Alesmith's new location is huge and well-designed! Encouraging place to bring kids, try beers, and see which food trucks pull up at the counter top outside. May make this a regular place to go with the family - not just guy friends.

Ale smith may not have a phenomenal location as it...

Ale smith may not have a phenomenal location as it is tucked inside of a large warehouse building in an office park like so many breweries in the area, but the awesome inside with tons of table seating, and even better, large comfy couches stands out. The beer selection is pretty awesome as well with a wide variety of brews from blonde ales to hoppy pale ales down to dark stouts. There are even dark beers poured on Nitro lines available as well. A tasting flight is available to either mix and match any choices or two preselected types that come on cool metal racks. For a tasting, the pours are fairly large as well. The space is incredibly expansive and behind the huge bar is what looks like an immense warehouse of brewing equipment which is odd considering I ve never seen their beer for sale in any stores or bars back East. On a weekend, the large space still fills up early so get in early for a seat. There is a beer garden out front in the parking lot that has food trucks at times as well, but the comfort of inside isn t there. There s also a fairly huge gift shop inside. Service is fairly friendly and pretty quick with several pours.

I gave AleSmith the benefit of the doubt for a long time but its been disappointing the last three times. My coworkers and I usually hit it up around 3pm on friday (6 to 8 of us). Not a big deal we keep to ourselves and drink. We had about five empty glasses on the bar and couldn't get a glance from the male bartender if we tried. So I Walked down the bar and asked if he could help us out (he was busy filling his water bottle for the last 5 minutes and wiping off the side) he replied "I'll get you in time" ? A little weird and macabre answer but whatever. Ten minutes went by and we accidently tried to order drinks from the owner who couldn't serve us but I think he said something to bartender because he took our drink order and made sure to give us a dirty look the entire time and at then end when we said thank you brotha and he replied with "yeah whatever" lol. Sorry man that's your job and all tipped you on three 65 + tabs. Brewery is 5/10 no good food variety but that bartender obviously thinks he's better than the people he serves.

The tasting room is well put together and they always seem to have a great selection with many of their best beers on tap. I've also purchased a few rare bottles from Alesmith using their Brownbag ticket program and the process as been extremely smooth.

Good Brewery Tour, ($10) we had a small group of 4, the newer tour guide was good and knowledgeable, remembered all our names. They had a cool Tony Gwynn museum plus the keg room, patio was cool. They are making cheese in house sometime in 2017 and I'm from Wisconsin, we know brewery tours, this one is pretty good, I may go back next time I'm in town. Only disappointment was we only get one beer for the tour so make sure to nurse it or you will end up like me who finished it 5mins in

This place is located in an industrial area right next to a surfboard show. They are most well known for their Speedway Stout and they release different versions of it during the year. Fantastic Beer!

I remember the old location with the tiny tasting room and this is a huge improvement. Tons of space. I really enjoyed the Hophead Flight (I m a huge fan of the .394) although the Old Numbskull, a barleywine, was a bit strange to my tastebuds. The Lil Devil was also excellent. I do wish they had a display of their beers on the wall though because trying to find a paper menu is lame. Overall a good experience I recommend it. I ll be back!

Very open brewery with a patio, which can get cold at night but they do have a gas fire pit outside. The inside is very open and I have always been able to find a table or couch to sit on. They do have food trucks that come on Friday which I have been able to order food with vegan options. Not a cozy environment but it is very spacious.

This place is the real deal. The penultimate craft brewery experience in the San Diego area and up there with the best in all of Southern California. Quality is top notch, variety of offerings is more than enough for several visits, and the food options outside were satisfying (though a tad expensive). Even during the pandemic, it was a vibrant and modern facility and the kind of destination I had expected and hoped for. Been waiting years to finally visit. And they have their own street/address, so you know they re special.

Maybe it's the yeast they use in all their beers, but Alesmith is just not my preferred brewery...

The location is huge but the lighting is really bad; direct overhead, white light. All I see in myself and other people is wrinkles, blood vessels, and shadows beneath the eyes and nose. Soften the lighting a bit.

The speakeasy is super cool and offers a unique set of beers.

Beautiful building, spacious and comfortable. They have a nice selection of draft beers, nice merchandise and food truck out front, for some food. They have premade flights, or the option to pick your own beers.

Parking area is big, and they do various events, though we just went there for a few drinks.

Beers are so good and SO boozy! Enjoy but be careful and have a plan to get home safely. The staff is fantastic and the patio is really nice. They had Cowgirl Q there today as their food truck - really appreciate them for having vegetarian BBQ options, especially when purchasing food is a must while Covid rules are in place!!

This new location is awesome! I've been here several times now and I love that it's so spacious and they always have 2 food trucks on the weekend days. I was here during SDBW and I was quite surprised at the speed and ease of access to the bar. I also really enjoy the outside patio area near the food trucks because it's great to sit outside and have a beer when the weather is nice (and let's be real, when ISN'T it nice outside in SD??). The beers are always fresh and delicious here, it's one of my favorite breweries in SD! I will be returning for sure.

Alesmith carries weight here in San Diego. Maybe not as iconic as Stone or as progressive as Ballast Point or as ambitious as Green Flash. It s just good beer and it sells itself, but the space here shows how Californians love to day drink.

Because of our year round good weather we take advantage of drinking outside. Without food on premesis they bring in food trucks, usually multiple because variety is the spice of life.

This place is large, unlike many places who expand and expand and expand, Alesmith laid down the infrastructure and groundwork for the future capacity. They are also keeping San Diego AF, as local as it gets with the tribute room to our HoF Tony Gwynn as well as the 394 beer in his honor. It s a pale ale and not the normal IPA s we are known for.

There is even an even more private password protected bourbon aged beer space. I don t want to necessarily call it a speakeasy, but it s definitely not the Dug Out. As one of the bartenders for the info as it changes. I love beer and I love bourbon and I love how 7 grand lets select breweries use their private barrels to age beer, but I try and separate my loves because tasting a bourbon barrel aged beer makes me want bourbon, which they don t have and then I want to leave to get that. Anyhow. Great brewery, worth of it s reputation as being a little more grounded a SD brewery than some.

Beautiful facility with top-of-the-line quality beers. They have a excellent range of styles with a whole page on the menu dedicated to aged and unique beers. The connection to Tony Gwynn is pretty cool with the museum located in the back. We held a company event here and they were awesome. We sat outside on a beautiful evening and had a great time.

Asking anyone about the best brewery in San Diego...

Asking anyone about the best brewery in San Diego is a great way to start arguments but odds are that Alesmith will be mentioned a lot .

From classics like 394 to award winning stouts like speedway , you can't go wrong here.

Brewery has different hours for pandemic but when open it is a great place to be. Usually a good truck is Available outside. Upon walking in you will go through the gift shop which has everything from glassware to hats to refrigerated beer.

Then there is two stories with a outside patio . Main floor has the bar with chill bartenders and a great selection of Alesmith greatest hits. Standard San Diego $7 for a pint and a little more expensive for the beverages with higher abv.

Upstairs is another bar with plenty of space to relax and outside is a grass area with games .

Great spot great beer

Really cool, large, and open space. They are super dog friendly too. There is a private party space upstairs. The patio is spacious as well. They usually have a good truck is two out there so you can get some grub to go with your brews.
