We stopped by here as part of a multi-stop cruise excursion and after the guided tours, we only got to spend about 5 minutes walking around the place. That said, what we did see was awesome and I am very sad we didn't get to spend more time there.

The first thing we did was walk into an area with double-sided mirrors that had bald eagles on the other side. They told us these eagles were being rehabilitated and were in varying stages of being able to fly again.

Then we went into a big room and were told a little about the place and a woman brought in a juvenile bald eagle. Outside, they had other bald eagles and hawks and owls.

Highly recommended if you are into birds, but if you are coming through a cruise, I'd skip some of the "guided tours" and just explore outside

Fantastic place to see awesome birds! We went in the winter so admission was free. We were able to made a voluntary contribution. Had a personalized tour one day and learned about many of the stories of the birds. Went there multiple days during our stay.

Very cool place, focus on education for patrons, and saving amazing aviary creatures for rerelease if possible! Give yourself some extra time here, there is tons to see and learn. I even picked a Salmon Berry to try!

This was an absolutely great place to visit. We were able to walk there from the cruise ship port. The path was relatively flat and well-marked. It was easy to get close up pictures of some amazing Raptors and the presentation was enjoyable. This was my first visit here but I would definitely come again next time. The staff was both knowledgeable and friendly.

Such a magical place where they help heal the birds and give sanctuary to those no longer able to fly. The Eagles were so beautiful. Owls and other birds too and a great way to see the birds close up. The rangers do a great job highlighting several birds so the public can see and learn about them. They are Angels for sure talking care of the birds!!!

Great place. We came here and the staff were very kind and informative. It is really nice to see such concerned people in this world. These people take in injured birds, help nurse them back to health, and give them a training space for flying. Those that cannot fly live in a large space with trees and a natural environment for them to live out the rest of their days. Would definitely recommend if you come to Sitka.

A really nice little raptor sanctuary. All the animals are rescues that they have nursed back to health but cannot fly. You will learn a lot about the area's indigenous species. They are doing good work. If you are coming from a cruise ship I suggest you just grab a cab to it. You can walk but it will eat up some of your time.

What an awesome place to visit in Sitka! The staff was very friendly and answered all of our challenging questions about the facility and the birds they have there. Definitely very informative about the raptors in Alaska. A great stop for people of all ages.

A must see. Sure, you've seen raptors at zoo's, but this place is different. You feel their mission to rescue some of God's creatures. The guide was knowledgeable and friendly. He took the time to educate as well as showing appreciation for our desire to learn more.

Love what this bird refuge is doing. Non government funded but extremely passionate about what they do. Get up nice and close to these wonderful birds of prey (Bald Eagles and Raptors) or even adopt one to help fund this great organisation.

Unlike the Fortress of the Bears (oh, man, so depressing!), the Raptor Center delivers on up-close, personal encounters with majestic eagles and owls. A camera with a good zoom will do you well here, as there are many opportunities to snag dramatic shots of the birds the Raptor Center has adopted or is nursing back to health. Walk the quiet paths among the evergreens, interact with the friendly and knowledgeable staff, and spend some time with your phone in your pocket for a change, soaking up the ambience. Recommended.

This is a must see visit. It is a rehabilitation and educational center for all manner of birds, though concentrated on raptors. Though you will see many eagles while in Sitka, this is your chance to get up close to these amazing birds and learn more about them, as well as other types of raptors and several types of owls. The outdoor exhibits are in a lush setting and they mimic as best as possible the bird's natural environments. The staff is very knowledgeable and you can tell their work is also their passion.

What an experience!! This center was an amazing, must see stop! The people are so knowledgeable and the birds there, whether destine to fly free or stay protected on site, are breathtaking, awe inspiring, and a must-see!! We meet a show stopping Snow owl, watched 27 bald eagles in a flight tunnel and many more birds safely healing, and living it up!
