I usually hate going to aiken regional but this time was surprising for me. In a good way. They got me back really fast and i was in and out in a matter of an hour or two at most. And they actually helped me. 1

I came into the emergency room with chest pain, shortness of breath and high blood pressure. I understand that the emergency room was busy at that moment but being left in one of your triage rooms not being hook up to a heart monitor and for over 30 minutes no one paid much attention to me was very concerning. In my opinion the first thing should have been to have me hooked up to a heart monitor if nothing else. If my cardiologist wasn't with Aiken Regional I will be thinking twice whether or not I will return to the Aiken Regional Medical Center emergency room ever again if I am having chest pain. Even my EMT's were not at all happy with how I was cared for when I arrived.

I used to hate going here, but it is now my ER of choice. Their wait times have drastically dropped, and their doctors are much more competent than they were ten years ago. I was checked in and out with exactly what I needed in less than an hour. Their exceptional staff is understanding, knowledgeable, and efficient. I'd recommend it to anybody!

As often as my family has been here I've gotten to know the various floors and departments. The ER is very efficient, but can get overwhelmed a times and care will suffer.
The ICU and PCU are the best patient care areas in the hospital, and rightfully so. The individual care by the staff is the best in the hospital. You can tell they are concerned about your well-being.
Food is so so with the cafeteria food better than the patient food. They tend to over salt their soups and some of the food is quite bland. The pizza in the cafeteria is quite good. Probably the best amenity is the Dunkin Donuts next to the cafeteria, where you can get your sweet fix.

From registering, to the nurses, to the technicians, to the anesthesiologist and to my doctor -every one was professional and caring. This is my second experience here, both times the care was excellent.

I think you should pay close attention to the comments you already have. My visit on 11/8 was much better than on 11/5. The nurse and the physician Dees, MD, Charles were both very courteous and caring.

Took my 76 year old mother to ER last week for severe pain. Found out she has fractures on her pelvis. After all the negative reviews I have read on this hospital I was nervous. Fortunately I have to say all I have seen was caring nurses and doctors. They have taken care of her and constantly check up on her. I believe that most people only leave reviews if negative not positive so I figured I would be different. So far for my first experience with this hospital I can't complain.

The EMT personnel and the staff in the front lobby were very nice and considerate, but they left me waiting for over four hours to be seen (and it just wasn't that busy), and when the doctor finally saw me he glanced at my chart, asked how I was feeling, and told me what I already knew--the symptoms I had. When I tried to press for more information, like what could possibly be causing the symptoms, I got brushed off. I was not impressed.

Absolutely terrible. My mom went here and I guess they had to hold her before sending her to Aurora for rehab overnight. Guess what? Shes the second person to tell me what a nightmare it is and I got to witness it as well. They make the stay as unpleasant as possible. Nurses are rude and it's like staying in a prison. It took my entire family to convince her to go to rehab and get better. My mom was ready to do it. But once she got to this place she was ready to leave. And she did once my sister saw how horrid it was and decided she was better off anywhere but here.

All that work UNRAVELED by an unprofessional rude cold hearted staff. The next day my old mother got in an automobile accident. She could have lost her life. She is currently in the ICU awaiting surgery.

This could have all been prevented. I absolutely do not recommend coming here, it's a shame that one must stay here overnight before being sent to Aurora. Theres no reason for it other than to waist ur money bc they do absolutely nothing here but give you attitude.

Yall should be absolutely ashamed of yourselves. You almost cost my mother her life. Theres a special place in hell for the riff raff staff, nurses, and doctors who work here. Yall should be absolutely ashamed for even existing.

If you have any intelligence or heart whatsoever you will get rid of the staff in this area and hire people better qualified.
It would be a shame to be sued over such negligence

Side note:
reading Amy's comment below from 5 months ago. She said her mom passed away due to lack of care in this hospital.
The owners response: have your mom contact us.

Goes to show how little these people pay attention to patients concerns and their words.

Yall have a BIG issue with listening. Also please hire doctors who aren't sexist!

I ve been here before. This experience was my sort experience. Although there was an attempt at service recovery there was so much wrong that the recovery was irrelevant. I hope they get it together because it s a small community hospital that most in the community have faith in there physician. The nursing staff has to get better. Just highly disappointed.

I visited the ER and it started out okay. There were three people in front of me. After approximately two and a half hours I got registered. After approximately one and a half hour more I was called back for EKG, blood work and an IV. While getting the EKG the nurse placed stickers in wrong location and had to remove a couple and rearrange. Went into another room blood was taken and IV installed the nurse had to wipe my arm down where blood had ran down the back of the arm from the process. I was asked to return to waiting room five minutes later they called me back again for more blood, which was taken through the IV. Asked to return to waiting room eventually I was taken to a room and asked to put on a gown and give a urine sample. I entered the private bathroom to get the sample the toilet had not been cleaned there was tissue inside and after raising the seat there was lots of blood under the seat (GROSS and UNSANITARY)!!! I was finally seen by a doctor, given some recommendations treated by the nurse and was told that the doctor would return to talk with me, That never happened the nurse returned with prescription for medications, removed the IV. She asked had the doctor returned to talk with me and I said no, she replied saying he should have come back to talk to you but you may go ahead and get dressed and you are free to go. Total time spent approximately six hours.

I went in with horrible jaw pain, face swelling, tears and all. The doctor walked in and looked at me and said maybe you have TMJ, it's probably that Ill give you some pain pills. He did no tests at all and TMJ requires the doctor to listen for popping in the jaw and feel the joint and/or do a CT scan none of which he did. This hospital sucks.

My son arrived by ambulance and was left to sit hours waiting to be seen. He was violently vomiting and a nurse comes around and tells him to be quiet. It's one thing for a hospital to be busy and slow but the attitude of the staff could be much better. The whole attitude and manners of the staff is horrible. We all deal with working long hours and rude people but we should carry ourselves with respect for ourselves and the people around us.

I can say it was the worst experience I have ever had, was taken to the ER for a stroke and they did address that right away, further into my stay they called my husband that night needing permission to transfer me to another hospital, then they didn't move me. And the most important thing they never contacted my husband back to let him know so the next morning he was calling all over trying to find me and of course the hospital I was in wouldn't tell him if I was there. Poor management.....

Had my son here, everyone was very nice and assuring. They made sure I was comfortable no matter what and that definitely made a huge impact on my experience. Before I delivered there I went to the ER several times and never waited for more than a few minutes. Never had a bad experience at Aiken regional.

I'm moving to Aiken. in June. I like to check status of hospitals and medical providers in the area before we arrive. We work in the nuclear industry all over the country. I'm really concerned about negative reviews for this provider. Gosh, things in USA used to be so top of the line. Whats happening? Is it the owners low standards or just poor work pool to select from for staff. I would not be surprised if it were in CA but in the south I thought old fashioned values and higher standards may still exist. I'm so sorry for the population that "has" to stay there.

From registration desk to completion of procedure I was treated with care and dignity. The nurses in the Endoscopy/Colonoscopy Unit were incredible. A visit to a hospital for a procedure can be intimidating to say the least. The staff at Aiken Regional helped calm my fears without sacrificing their own professionalism in the process. Great crew!

Waiting, waiting, waiting... Asked for an estimate...

Waiting, waiting, waiting... Asked for an estimated time at the ER with concern of serious infection and was told 2 hours, we waited patiently for 3 and a half. Then made the mistake of seeing where we were in line and if we could get a blanket (it was freezing). That was apparently a huge nuisance, as the nurses eye roll was akin to that of a teenager. We're 5 hours in and still waiting. Never again! I'll drive to Georgia or Columbia before exposing another family member to this.

Although it took the doctors a little while to figure out a diagnoses,my time spent here was fine. The staff was really friendly and caring, the nurses Joe and Allison were true angels and would answer all my questions. Them along with the tech Kayla kept me calm for the most part during my stay, the only thing that could be improved on is some of the doctor's bed side manner. Patients are already uneasy about being hospitalized and to add onto the stress by not being compassionate and understanding doesn't help.

Terrible experience. They tried to bill me over 2000$ for a 15 min visit to the medical center. I was not prescribed any sort of medicine while I was here, and they completely disregarded the fact that I have had medical insurance since 2008. It's surprising that this hospital is still in business because what they are doing is criminal.

Need some bladder care on an urgent basis and my local Aiken doctor suggested I go to Aiken Regional. Care was excellent, and Dr Millhouse provided the proper remedy. Saw my urologist this morning and am on the path to recovery. Only regret is the time it took before I saw the doctor, a couple of hours of more. At the registration they indicated they would triage me, which I thought to process those waiting who had the greatest health issue first. But I was the only patient in the waiting room; so why would it take an hour just to get past the initial waiting room?

We had a very bad experience with Aiken hospital Emergency Room.

Late at night, my wife had severe abdominal pain with continious vomitting and diarrhea. The admission nurse was rude, upsympathetic, arrogant and uncompassionate. The emergency room was poorly managed and under staffed.

My wife was left with pain for over one hour without adminitering any medications and without checking on her after the initial vitals check. Finally after persisting, we were given one anti-nausea pill. My wife could have had food poision or gallbladder issue, but they did not care.

When I asked, I was told that there are 3 doctors and a PA on staff; but we never saw any of them walking around.

After 2 hours I asked the admission nurse for a gown to change my wife, after soling her pants, she refused to help with the execuse that she could not leave her station. She was the only one there most of the time and she was not busy about 50% of the time while we were there. Later, I was able to wave for someone else on the other side of the locked double doors and asked them for the gown. I cleaned my wife and we waited for another hour.

After 3 hours still without being seen by a single doctor, we walked on our own out of that terrible place.

This is the WORSE HOSPITAL I've ever been to..They had lab orders written out on PAPER of what I needed and they still couldn't get it right. Now I can't have my surgery because I have to go somewhere else and get the correct lab work done. Also don't come in as a outpatient to have anything done such as labs or you will have to call a million times for them to release results to your doctor when you've already signed release papers before testing. Medical Records is a JOKE. They transfer to whoever will answer. Ummm hell Medical Records should have all records right? This place and the people that work here are incompetent. They deserve 0 STARS.

Once inside the double doors, very caring, professional and builders of confidence. Could not ask for better care. And this is why the 5 star review.
Registration is confusing due to lack of verbal or written instructions as to the process. Also confusing is how visitation for an outpatient is to be handled. Information was handled OK by a compassionate, caring nurse who made phone calls to my wife but were it not for that person my wife would have been left without information as to where and when next.

I came to Aiken ER due to severe low back pain. The nurses were very nice. However after waiting about 2 hrs to be seen,I was brought in the back to be seen. Dr. Jensen was the doctor. He took less than 5 minutes with me and gave me a toradol shot. He wouldn't listen to his patient. I don't know if he thought I was a drug seeker or what. I kept trying to explain what was happening and he seemed like I was wasting his time. He asked me what I wanted and I ask him to find out what was causing the pain. This was unlike any paIn I have felt. I got more sympathy from the nurse who gave me the shot. Doctors need to listen to their patients. Not dismiss them.

Aiken Regional should definitely rethink their management! My 87 year old mother had to wait 9 hours before she got seen! She was dehydrated and needed fluids. She had a portable oxygen machine, but the battery doesn't last 9 hours! There is no vending machine in the ER for bottle water, juices or foods other than chips and cookies. What is going on there? This hospital is a disgrace!

My dad has been in the hospital for 7 days and I have yet to be contacted by a doctor to give me a diagnosis, treatment regimens, and path forward. I have to call the nurse for updates and they are very short and provide little information. I have left messages for a doctor to call me and I am still waiting for a call. I am the healthcare power of attorney and my dad cannot make rash discussions in his own. This is not an isolated case. My father in-law was at ARMC last month and we received the same treatment. We can visit and get regular updates due to Covid-19 so we rely on the staff for information that we can t get. This is unacceptable and very unprofessional ran facility.

I was in the Emergency Dept. for about 10 hrs., taking 9 hrs to get in a room. It would've been nice if they would've given people an update/reason for the long wait before people started to express frustration. There was very little sympathy shown for people's irritation and impatience; poor communication on staffs part played a part in this. When I had to ask the status of me getting a room, the second time, a staff said they already called me and asked if I was in the restroom; staff's attitude presented as if I were a bother. I told her where I was (with another staff member doing something that I had to get done). However, I think staff should go into the restroom or outside (esp if they're standing right outside) if a patient doesn't respond when they're name is called in the lobby. There were a lot of people in there and sitting in one spot waiting without updates is tiresome; therefore, people will get up to use the bathroom or step outside to get some fresh air and/or stretch. After the long hours there I still don't feel I received the answers that I desperately needed. Another system needs to be put in place as to how this
ED is ran because the question that comes from my experience recently is 'What is the purpose of a visit to the ER if the response time is not treated as such...an emergency?' To be fair, there were some nice staff members.

The checkin is flawed. I arrived 15 minutes prior to my pre-operation checkin. I waited at the desk for nearly 12 minutes before the receptionist returned to the desk to check me in. By the time she got to me. It was past my checkin time by 10 minutes. Then, once I completed all the documentation. The clerk gave the documentation to me instead of the pre-op nurse and told me to have a seat. I sat for over an hour. Noticed that others that arrived after me were being seen. Finally went to the pre-op nurse and she stated they should have given her the documentation. Finally completed the process at 10:45. My appointment was at 9:00 am. This, to me, is unacceptable.

I returned the next day for the operation. The staff was excellent. If it weren t for them. I d give this visit one star.

My husband was admitted to ARMC thru the ER on Sep...

My husband was admitted to ARMC thru the ER on Sept 9, 2014 for shortness of breath and pneumonia due to his metastatic esophageal cancer. He was in good spirits and was fighting this terrible disease, knowing full well that he was failing. He was able to talk, eat, laugh, etc. ALL of the nurses and doctors that came to see and treat him went above and beyond their calling in order to care for him and make him comfortable. One week after he was admitted the results of the CT scan came back and his cancer had spread to his liver as well as his spine and hips, so his oncologist Dr. Ergul (whom I have THE HIGHEST regard for) ordered radiation treatment for his back and hips in order to get him stronger so he could withstand more treatment for the cancer.

That evening, the hospitalist DR. CAMPBELL came in to see him, asking me questions about him, telling me that she knew nothing about his case. After a few minutes of talking to me, she went over to my husband, put her stethoscope on his chest (his lungs were clear and heart was strong), stood back and said that she knew all about cancer because her daughter had died of cancer. Started talking about hospice care and had I ever heard of DR. KEVORKIAN!!!!! That's when I stood up and said "I'm going to stop you right there, I'm from Michigan and know Dr. Kevorkian very well." She continued to talk about hospice and that she was going to talk to Dr. Ergul to see if they could get on the same page. Then she dropped another bombshell: in FRONT of my husband she said that her assessment was that he had LESS THAN 6 MONTHS TO LIVE!!!!! (I left orders with the nurses that Dr. Campbell was NEVER to be near my husband again.)

THAT IS WHEN MY HUSBAND LOST HIS WILL TO KEEP FIGHTING BECAUSE HE QUIT TALKING AND EATING THE VERY NEXT DAY. HE PASSED AWAY 4 DAYS LATER.

I would have rated my husband's experience at ARMC 5 stars, but our experience with Dr. Campbell lowered it to 4.

Sharing my experience, being totally honest, is what I will say is one of the worst experiences, or most likely, the worst experiences of my entire life! Please do not misunderstand my response, but I have never felt more ignored or put down! I arrived at approximately 1pm on December 3 and departed at approximately 3:30am on December 4. I would estimate that 90-95% of that extensive length of time, I was totally overlooked with nothing being done to help me. The most helpful staff members were the lady who drew my blood, the nurse who assisted me at the end of my ordeal, the two CAT Scan guys, and Dr. David Krusling, who also saw me at the end of my extended stay. The young lady at the desk was not compassionate whatsoever!

They refused to allow us to put a new born in the car seat and then put the car seat in the stroller where he would have been secure. Instead they made the Mom carry him out to the car. Then they pushed the wheel chair so hard into the elevator that she almost fell out of the wheel chair and almost dropped the baby. Lots of other things we did not like about the hospital as well but don't have enough room to list it all.

3/14/2017 I am currently sitting in the ER with my son who injured himself during recess. We've been here since 12:30pm and it is now 6:17pm. He is in excruciating pain b/c there is a giant HOLE in his leg! We went through triage within the first hour and the practitioner determined that he'll need stitches. We were sent back out to the waiting room. At 3:45pm I went back to the desk to ask for them to give my son any type of pain medication since he had not been called to the back yet. At 4:15pm a nurse shows up with ibuprofen. Needless to say, he's still in pain. This is awful! How can they let a child sit & suffer like this? All he needs is some stitches and antibiotics. I see now why people always say to never bring a loved one to Aiken regional. I'm so disappointed. Update....it's 7:07pm still here.

I had an almost excellent experience with Aiken Re...

I had an almost excellent experience with Aiken Regional. I was admitted on two separate occasions. The first time, I went through ER and the ER physician basically accused me without saying the exact words of being a hypocondriac. She was young and judgemental without all the medical facts. I "thought" I was going to be sent home to suffer. But I was admitted and my care improved 100 %. All but one nurse went beyond to help me the week I spent in there. All lab techs, techs, and food staff were extra caring and accomodating. The second time I was admitted, again through ER, no one was rude. But I was in so much pain and the wait time was crazy long before an ER Dr. came. This time, I landed in ICU. Again, my care was top notch save one nurse. Believe it or not, it was the same nurse from before. She was never rude or anything, it was little noticable things. Like, I am unable to help myself much but she hands me a bedpan to take care of myself and she walks away and leaves me and does not return. So I am left with a pan under me and didn't help me with clean up. I had to manage it myself. She was definitely NOT nurse material. Short of her, again, the rest of my experience was extremely good. Dr. Ipatti is one of the most caring Dr. I've had the pleasure of meeting in an extremely long time. You just don't see Dr's like her much anymore. Thanks to her, I was able to get the help/diagnosis I needed. I will always be grateful.

Absolutely the WORST billing department ever! They don't send statements after insurance pays and then turn you over to collections. They will tell you it is your fault you should have known you had a balance. I still have not received a statement after 10 months and multiple requests. Warning STAY AWAY IF POSSIBLE!! The one star is because I couldn't get a negative star.

AND HERE WE GO AGAIN!! For the second time in two years they still can t get it right. I have changed my address repeatedly including physically going to the hospital to handle it. Obviously that doesn t work either. I have been turned over to collections again and my credit has been damaged beyond belief over this. I will change doctors if necessary so that my lab work is not sent to them. If they can t get an address right after 7 years....I feel my only option now is to hire an attorney.

And here I am THREE years later with no end in sight to this mess!! I did finally get someone to tell me that they had indeed sent all statements to an old address. However I still have a collection account showing on my credit report. If anyone has anyone has any suggestions on how to get this corrected please let me know. I m sure I m not the only one that has had this problem as I have friends that are also dealing with this. Will an attorney help? Nothing else has. I am ready to hire one just for the stress, aggravation, embarrassment, pain and suffering and damaged credit Aiken Regional Medical Center has caused me. I will continue to SHOUT FROM THE ROOFTOPS about this.

The nurse I had was so rude. Not saying any names out of respect! But the lady could have been more polite when speaking with me and not have got an attitude. Just remember you should treat people the way you would want to be treated. Do not get an attitude with me if I don t have one with you. If you can t say something nicer don t speak at all.
Thank you and best regards to ya

It all depends on what department you are going to...

It all depends on what department you are going to and what time of day. If you're going to one of the scheduled clinics, you usually don't have to wait very long, and most of the time employees are kind and helpful. If you're admitted, you get good attendance as a whole, but if you have to go to the ER, you play roulette. Mid morning and
early afternoon are usually the least
busy. Don't go there on Friday or Saturday night unless you have a situation that can stand a long wait, because you will more than likely be there for a very long time. All the shootings, drunk accidents and fight victims come in on the weekends. You can always call ahead and find out how full the waiting room is, but that doesn't mean an ambulance won't pull up just as you check in. You bet against heavy odds anytime you go to hospital instead of your primary care physician.

We know Covid has caused issues, but having to wait hours before being seen by a doctor is a shame. We understand some misuse your services, but my 84 year old husband was in serious pain. An EKG was done (he has heart issues), blood work and urine was tested. We found out from our doctor on Monday that his white cell was very high. Yet he did not see a doctor, which he was told was the only one to look at results.

The nurses were wonderful and compassionate, but he needed a doctor. There were two other patients in serious pain, one from a fall. She could hardly move or walk.

We stayed 6 hours during which the last 2 hrs NO ONE was taken back. Since there were 4 others ahead of us we left for home.

We have seen our doctor and he is ordering tests that should have been done Friday night. Needless to say, we will NOT be back, we will go to Augusta.

Had a colonoscopy there. Everyone was very friendly and prompt. My nurse poked me several times in each arm and could not start my IV but did call for help. His words during the poking did not give me a very good impression of his competence. Very unsure of himself and mumbling. Was not impressed with Dr Chaudry either but that should not take away from the facility. Found the doctor very cold, stand offish and lacking any form of bedside manner.

Very disappointed. Doctor's office sent me to ER by ambulance. Day nurse was very flippant and disinterested in my symptoms just asking me if I was suicidal or homicidal. In for chest pain and trouble breathing. Really. Had tests and ER doc said I could go home. I told her I was still dizzy and had a massive headache. She said headache from Nitro. Then left. Had to wait for second shift nurse to get out of meeting for change of shifts. After puling the 2 IV sites, she said we were free to go home and walked away. My husband tried to get me up and I almost fell 4 times in the room as I was so dizzy. He got me to the bed and went to nurse to get wheelchair telling her I almost fell 4 times in the room. She told him to pull around in front. I told her I was very dizzy and she just stood behind the wheelchair holding the arms. I attempted to reach wheelchair but fell on the floor on my knees. Crawled to wheelchair to pull myself up. She then proceeded to take me out to car never mentioning to anyone I had fallen. My husband had to get hold of me just to get me in car. Struggled to get from car to house and had to crawl on my knees there. What a joke that they were so irresponsible about my concerns and safety when I told doc and nurse. Never want to go there again. Will do anything to go to a different hospital. May get an attorney involved.

My family member arrived for ER services and at this present moment has been waiting for approximately 11 1/2 hours to be seen (still waiting). Staff was not aware/Synced with departments or procedures patients were directed to receive. Understand COVID procedures are at play but to stay in the ER that long is absolutely RIDICULOUS. I wouldn t give this a star if allowed to write a review without the star. It s critical for Directors to re-evaluate their processes to ensure patients are not deprived of services and turnover rate of time is not neglected.

I had to get my tubes removed on February 11, 2020. I loved the staff. Everyone was so helpful and so sweet. My nurse Mimi she was so helpful and caring. My surgery was suppose to be at 9 45 but they were running late with another patient. I didnt worry about it. I layed in the bed talking to my sister. I went into surgery a little after 12. I got in there and all i remember was the nurse untying my gown and me on the operating table and that was it. I was gone. Lol. And the i got nausea but wasnt complaining except my stomach was hurting and alittle bit of my parts were too. But im taking it like a champ. I didnt panick or anything. This is my first surgery ever. Im dealing with the pain but handling it good. No bending except to sit down. Sleeping on my back is really hard when im used to sleeping on my stomach at night. I appreiciate everyone there. Thank yall so much for taking care of me.

Great experience with the care for my mother. She was sent over by her doctor to ER with several concerns. Dr. Meza, Dr. Patel (not sure of spelling) both were awesome, concern for Mom and very caring. ER & ICU Nurses, were very caring and friendly. Mom is in a wonderful place.
