I went here for their Summer Camp, Global scholars program and to say the least it was worth my time there. I had so much fun on campus. The common rooms were great meeting spots and the learning commons were a very interesting area. The snack bar is great! Unfortunately it s not open on weekends. The sport courts include, basketball, volleyball, football and tennis. The security is top notch and it s very hard to get lost in that campus. I really love it and I honestly recommend it to anyone who wants their child or guardian to have a good summer

They must be teaching those kids some good stuff since some of the students there are constantly harassing me on line for a couple years now followed me to my FB account from my spam folder when the student tried to scam me for money and I told them off. What great lessons you must teach I'll have to see if I can advocate to have Americans stop funding any programs for Africa since you're putting your computers to such good use and politically that would not be too hard right now ,I'm writing this because one of them slipped and checked in here at this school

My life has changed every since I went to this school and graduated in 2015. I do not know how to thank them but all I can do is pray that more people have the same change. I will forever be thankful for this school and Fred Swaniker for all his efforts. May God bless them abundantly.

"African Leadership Academy", its like some kind of sick joke... honestly. Just consider that it is on the world's most impoverished continent yet tuition fees are un-affordable even by U.S standards. Its GARBAGE! This is no place for training in African leadership. It might be understandable that the "Academy" would have a goal in providing high end training in Management Logistics, however, its empowering the WRONG PEOPLE!!! Its at the wrong place at the wrong time doing nothing but serving as a symbol to the incompetence of the South African education system. A blow to sensibility especially considering the conditions surrounding it. NO GREAT AFRICAN LEADER SHALL EVER EMERGE FROM THAT CESSPOOL OF CAPITALISM AND BLATANT MATERIALISTIC INCOMPETENCE!!!

ALA is one of the most important, amazing, influential and THE BEST world class boarding school Africa has ever had. If we had such schools across Africa, development would have been seen within the most short period of time. It's life changing. It teaches everything a leader should possess. Two years at the academy is the most unforgettable and exciting experience any student can have. I would never give up the chance of joining ALA even with a billion dollars. True. Thank you ALA for everything you've done for us.

African Leadership Academy: Developing the Next Generation of Africa's Leaders

African Leadership Academy (ALA) is a leading institution that focuses on developing the next generation of Africa's leaders. The academy believes that young people can dream big, take action, and change the world. ALA was founded in 2004 by Fred Swaniker, Chris Bradford, Peter Mombaur, and Acha Leke with a vision to transform Africa by identifying and nurturing young leaders who will drive positive change across the continent.

The academy is located in Johannesburg, South Africa and offers a two-year pre-university program for students aged 16-19 from across Africa. Students are encouraged to think creatively about solutions to some of Africa's most pressing challenges such as poverty alleviation, healthcare access, education reform among others.

The academy has a diverse student body comprising young people from over 45 African countries who come from different socio-economic backgrounds. This diversity fosters cross-cultural understanding among students which prepares them for leadership roles in an increasingly globalized world.

Some notable alumni include Ashish Thakkar founder of Mara Group; Bethlehem Tilahun Alemu founder of SoleRebels; Andrew Mwenda journalist & political commentator; Sangu Delle entrepreneur & investor among others.

In addition to its flagship pre-university program ALA also runs several other initiatives aimed at promoting leadership development across Africa these include:
