Compared to erm almost every other international airport Orly is a dump, sorry it's the only word that sums it up for me. Dirty, uncomfortable, badly laid out, horrible shops, poor systems, understaffed and those that turned up were indifferent at best - avoid if you can, go from somewhere else, this won't be a pleasant experience!

Transport from Paris by train is scary to say the least. There's a north to south line that passes through some really run down areas stopping at almost every lamppost. The link to the airport from Antony on an automatic driverless train is terrifying. The train cars are no wider than a family saloon, there's nowhere to put luggage and it reaches warp speed in seconds resulting in bags flying everywhere!

Awful airport. Waited to simply drop our bags for just shy of an hour. Sat in a line for customs that said it'd be 4 minutes and was more like 15, plus the line for customs led directly into security which was backed up and they were only using two out of four lanes that they had available. The terminal was extremely small and the boarding process was extremely disorganized and chaotic. Once on the plane we were informed we were going to have at least a 25 minute delay while sitting on board. Would never recommend anyone fly out or into Orly. Do everything you can to fly in and out of CDG. Cleaner, more efficient, have never waited in any line longer than 5 minutes there. It's usually a little more expensive to fly in/out of CDG but 1,000% worth it.

If you are flying to the US in the evening from Orly, this is a treat compared the madhouse of Orly. The airport was pretty empty. Terminals 1-3 are easy to walk. Prefer CDG Roissy if you can. You will have to wait and to pay 10 euros to Orlyval to finally take the train to Paris. Long, long ways to go though the airport. And most importantly, very often very long queues to collect your luggages back (1h to 4h is not unusual).

Orly is a nice and clean airport. Compared to the two German capital airports, Orly has already arrived this millennium. There is enough seating. The aisles are bright and wide.
The shops are diverse and have flair.
It's fun to stroll from terminal to terminal.
The staff provide friendly information, also in English.
