Even getting there by taxi (2km for 15 ) was unpleasant, because obviously taxis from / to the airport like to increase the prices spontaneously. The airport is very nice, poorly signposted and spacious. We had to be annoyed with the security check. My Swiss Army knife with a 5cm blade was scrapped because it was said to be too long. I have been flying it worldwide for 6 years, then it was scrapped in Madrid. The security guard was extremely rude, sent me through security again after the knife was removed. Then, because I was back, another security guard insulted me in Spanish, even though I had only followed my colleagues' instructions.
Not a nice experience. In addition to the poor signage, the staff spoke no / poor foreign languages besides Spanish. I didn't get any further with English / German / French. All in all, friendliness, professionalism and signage for a large European city do not meet expectations. We will avoid Madrid in the future .......

Nice structure, clean and everything worked well except for the security officers that were very rude when we asked for help. They treated us like garbage and didn t provide us with the correct information. Such a shame to arrive for the first time and be received by an arrogant attention.

Worst airport I have ever been to in Europe. It took us 3 hours from landing and proceeding to our next gate for the transfer flight. Airport is huge but not well planned out. We had to take two internal trains and one outside shuttle. I m all for security, but this was ridiculous. We had to stand in lines and show boarding pass and passport 5 times before we got on the next flight. Getting off train there was a mass herds of travelers all pushing to get to some type of line which took over an hour. Last time that we needed to show passport and boarding pass was just 10 feet from prior check. Will never travel to to this airport again.

I was in Madrid in 2012 and in 2014. The airport is beautiful, there are four terminals, never a problem with the bags and also the connection with the metro to get into town it is fantastic.

Airplane SN3727 landed pre schedule at 16.39 and the first luggage arrived at 17.09 - which is extremly slow. The luggage with priority tags arrived after all other luggage arrived. My first piece at 17.13 and the second and last one at 17.17 - that's 38 minutes for unloading priority luggage? This is a severe joke and shows very bad organization.

The downside is that the processing time is delayed when dropping off the baggage, but the staff are friendly and the airport is clean.
In particular, the barcode device for Tax Refund has been upgraded a lot, so I think it's good to be able to use it really quickly and conveniently. :)

Good airport Huge but well signposted, which makes it easy to move inside the airport. From here many flights depart to all of Europe and the world. There are several places to eat and the wifi works very well.

Expect to get lost. Signage is poor and sparsely distributed. Directions are poor and often misleading.

Other than that, facilities are alright, with food and drink as overpriced as you'd expect at an airport.

I had to go through the security three times because the staff didn't speak to me in english. I did tell them that I cannot understand spanish but they would not listen and just made me to go pass the security again. Later I found out that they required me to get my electronic device out of my bag, which I've never been asked for before.
Isn't it basic sense for the airport staff to speak English to customers who dont understand spanish? I felt so insulted.

Flight from Iberia to Panama, we have been on the plane for an hour and a half because they are waiting to change a spark plug, then they have commented that the whole box must be changed. How is it possible that they have to change things now that we are already inside and in theory ready to go. Then they do not even bother to offer a glass of water, the crew telling themselves about battalions in their area. Iberia is getting worse and worse, and if it weren't because they almost had a monopoly on certain routes, they were probably going to ruin.

Most bad organization ever. Employees do not speak English. Or if you want to ask something you will be ignored. There is a smoking area on the website that is not there. If you indicate that you do not understand what the staff wants from you, you will also be treated very negatively. If I can avoid it, I will never never come here again.

It is a very large and very beautiful airport. The passport check was fast and efficient. If you have to go to the satellite terminal, follow the signs that show an (S) in green. The train that takes you to this terminal is at the bottom of the airport.(1st level). It takes approximately 15 minutes to reach the satellite terminal

The connection to the center of Madrid is very easy via Metro, look for the signs <M> the letter M is red. The subway card for 10 trips cost 12 euros, or if you buy only the transfer from the airport to the city center it costs 7.50. It is much cheaper than a taxi.

No doubt a great airport. You can easily reach the center of Madrid by public transport whether bus, train or subway. With the Express Bus for 5 and 24 hours from Cibeles or Atocha. Attentive staff and good security.

Great airport in general. Outstanding public and private transport for going to Madrid. Connections between terminal also good (buses every 5 minutes and free).
If you go to T4 you will have a awesome experience because is the newer terminal. It has a lot of shops, people willing to help you and, places to relax and children to play.
If you go to T1, T2 or T3 you will have a good experience too but buildings are more modest.

This airport continues to be one of my favorites, well signaling, clean and with facilities for ten, if you travel and you have to make a stopover here you will have it super easy to connect with other flights, if people of ten and variety in the dutty although now with the covid some brands are not open !!!!

Worst airport in my whole long and rich travelling life ! In this "International" Airport, staff dont speak English (nor French) and they are proud of it, while addressed they scream in Spanish "no engless, no engless" !, utters insults in Spanish. If u have to pass several hours in this "International" Airport, better bring a comfortable chair because what they have is iron chairs for torture cells. If u want to go the toilet, be careful, the cleaning-woman will scream at u in Spanish !! Never ever I had such experience in an airport. They r so proud to be ignorant of the rest of the world, may be world should live without them; all the shops and business in the airport, they are not Spanish I guess ;-)))

Not my favorite airport. Very spread and complicated. Moving from terminal to terminal is a real challenge, to make the things even more complicated you MUST go through shops and cafes.

Before there were lockers where you could store your luggage for a modest price of ~6 euro per locker per day. Now they consigned this to a company named Consignia and they charge you 10 euro per PIECE of luggage per day. It is rather difficult to find a Consignia office, because they look just like shops that sell suitcases and other tourist items (and they do sell them).

From the other side, security checks are fast and well organized, even in the busiest hours waiting time is less than 10-15 minutes. The lounges are very clean and tidy, same for toilets. Airport personnel are friendly and helpful.

I was surprised to find out that there was no smoking room in the airport after the immigration check .. I think there is no smoking room in the room .. go in. (Exit check was very fast, after you have checked your baggage, you should go a little slower in smokers. I could not measure the weight of the baggage, but one person weighed 24.5kg and two people weighed about 41kg.

Very nice airport. The bathrooms very clean. You have access to car rental at terminals one and four. What I didn't find, at least at the door of my flight was where to charge my cell phone while I waited. From the airport you can take the train and get to the city of Madrid. There are several food stores in terminal four but I think there could be more variety for people who have to wait several hours and wish to have several options for eating.

Huge airport, not bad architecture, correct organization, but to move between terminals it takes a lot of time, also the tax free system is long, in addition not enough for the number of travelers!

Extremely unfriendly fat security lady. Handled me like a terrorist! A lot of yelling in Spanish, I couldn't understand what she was so upset about so I asked her if she speaks English and she didn't even answer.
What the hell are you doing in an international airport if you're not able/willing to speak English? At least replace that unnecessarily angry look with a smile...

Excellent airport, very big, to get to different boarding gates you have to walk, sometimes quite a lot, it is very modern, with escalators, elevator, very well signposted. To transfer from the Iberia terminal to the central terminal we did it by an internal train from the airport. The reporting staff is very very friendly, they advise tourism very well as well as traveling, in my case I asked to make sure that a certain subway arrived from the airport to the station that I needed and they recommended me to take a train that arrived at same place, but less euros. It was a great gesture !!

Big and clean airport - T4 terminal, we waited for the morning flight 8 hours from 24 to 8 am in the security zone. The only place to eat open during these hours is the macpia. Lack of space to relax, loud cleaning, continuous vending machine and toilet facilities. Every 15 minutes, a loud message about the need to watch luggage in 2 languages and after another 15 minutes information about the need to check whether the boarding gate has changed. Drama, no possibility of falling asleep. The VIP lounge is open from 5am to 11pm.
Generally, if you have a long night change, look for another connection.

It is one of the best airports in Europe. It has a wide range of services and, best of all, it is very clear and fairly confusing in the indications. It has an endless number of taxis, metro line, etc. and the parking is giant. It is at a quite affordable distance from the city

IT IS A BIG AIRPORT WITH FOUR TERMINALS. MODERN, CLEAN, WELL PRESERVED AND DESIGNED. INDICATIONS AND SIGNALING IS VERY COMPLETE. THE DISTANCES ARE LONG. THE ORGANIZATION IN GENERAL IS GOOD. I SHOULD CONSERVE THE TRADITIONAL NAME OF BARAJAS AND POINT.

The Terminal 4 and 4S are new, and huge, but could the people there spend some budgets on direction signs? Everything is so dispersed here, and you will get loss very easily. For examples:

- There is no direction sign in T4 leading to the VAT refund desk, not until you can see the desk itself.
- After you got the custom stamp on the VAT forms, there is no direction for cash refund. When you arrived T4S, the first VAT sign will point you to go up to another floor but only you can find there is another custom. You need to pass through yet another security check (take you 5-10 more min) to go back to the original starting point in T4S.
- The lounge is inside the duty-free store in RSU area. If you missed the sign in area S, there is no way you can find the lounge.

For sure one of the worst designed airport in the world. Especially terminal 4, very far from T1,2,3 and without reason. Than on terminal 4 they even created another terminal where you have to go 10 minutes by train so easy to miss your flight. Spanish chaos and incompetence combined

Madrid airport has 2 different areas. Terminals 1, 2 and 3 are the old ones and are improving. Terminal 4 is the newest and best one.
Wifi is free...you must register.
Parking is expensive as most of them but it has some options "VIP" because are closer to the terminal.

Terrible airport! Especially T1. All the homeless of Madrid are sleeping there, no security, no thing. If you are catch over night inside you are doomed! They literally have 20 chairs in all the terminal. No respect for the passages. The only this that I didn't like in Spain!

an ok airport but the tax refund took really long. You probably need to go to the airport at least 4 hours in advance. I've arrived in the airport 3 hours prior to my departure but failed to receive a tax refund

Fat minus are the far too few toilets. The ladies have long lines, both can be seen pretty well. Not nice when everyone sees who is in the cabin for how long.

Otherwise, the dates time 1 is quite nice. Nobody needs to starve, seats enough available. Sockets in short supply, even if there are a few small charging station.

I was pleasantly surprised by the fast security control. Directly from the Metro immediately through the control and in a nice atmosphere and without queuing. Top!

We went to Madrid for a week and had really good time. Genuinely impressed with the architectonic style, full of stores though quite impersonal in the choice of stores inside. Walking around the new terminal store-wise gives the same impression as going around other airports-shopping mall. So far, my best choice remains Rome. In addition, on our arrival when we asked for information, a girl at the metro info office had an awful English and looked completely bored. Not a great welcome to a beautiful and solar mediterrenean Capital. In addition the luggage delivery was very late when there weren't many flights. On a plus side, toilets very clean. Internet connection awful: too complicated procedure the get the free wi-fi. Good connection to the centre.
