If you have a morning flight from Madrid airport then I strongly suggest you eat somewhere before going to the airport. We decided to do it there and it was awful. The level of the food is below any standards and it is twice as expensive as in central Madrid. Very disappointing..

The hostesses of Iberia, even seeing that many people wear the masks incorrectly placed, ignore it and do not ask people to put them on correctly.
At the time of boarding, the person in charge of calling spoke so softly that he could not be heard.

Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas Airport (IATA: MAD, ICAO: LEMD), called until 2014 Madrid-Barajas Airport, is a public Spanish airport owned by Aena located in the immediate vicinity of the city of Madrid, the capital of Spain. It is the first Spanish airport for passenger traffic, air cargo and operations, as well as the fifth in Europe and twenty-fourth in the world by number of passengers.

There is a Delikia drinks dispenser at Madrid airport which takes your money but delivers no drink. Apparently this has happened to many people using the airport. Why does the airport allow this? Why allow this company to do this on their property? Delikia takes travellers' money does not give the product paid for and so makes using the airport a poor experience. Joe Heff

It is a very large airport and it is difficult to move around in the airport.

Although it is tax-free, after registering with the machine, I received a refund in cash or a card at a shop like the photo.

The refund seems to be different depending on the tax exemption type.

I had a layover of almost 20 hours in Madrid.
What am I gonna say? Spain deserves really to be always among the greatest countries in the world.
I stopped in terminal T-4 , it is really a huge airport and clean. During those 20 hours I had to take my suitcase and then head to the hotel, so honestly I had short time even though it was 20 hours. ( you gotta pass immigration control, look for my baggage, look for airport exit..) so I had many things to do that took too much of my time.
I stayed in a hotel almost 20 minutes by taxi from the airport. I know I didn't visit the most known places but I can say that my time was so much enjoyable in the great city of Madrid .
Back in the morning , I headed back to the airport and looked for my flight . Again , everybody was helpful and nice. You can feel that you are welcome even though some don't speak much English buy still, you will realize that Spanish people are very welcoming. Not only in Madrid, but also when I was in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria too.
Spain, keep going.
A very big respect to you and to your wonderful people .
Mucha gracias por todos.

T1, T2 facilities are not very good, but nothing is missing. Taxi from the airport to the city is 30 euros and it is a 20 euros reconnaissance system even if it is in front of the airport. If you take a bus to the airport in front of the airport for transfer, it is very advantageous to choose a shuttle bus.

During my trip to Europe, I visited Madrid airport three times. In none of them present problems and is easily located since the signaling is impeccable. For backpack and low budget trips, you can sleep peacefully anywhere in its facilities.

It has food, market and currency exchange areas. The transport service between its terminals is free and the Metro is in the subway.

It is useful to go at least 3 - 3.5 hours before the plane moves. It is a very large airport and it takes a long time to find out where your flight will depart. Most of the staff do not speak English. So you can miss the plane while trying to find it. Figure A: ben We had to buy 4 times the new ticket, which we almost missed. Thanks to the employees, they had never been helpful. I do not have many good memories of this airport, but the beautiful days spent in Spain are worth 4 points.

Very nice architecture it's an interesting building to be inside (Terminal 4). There is a lack of bars to have a leisurely drink though until you go through immigration and get to the gate and then it all becomes a bit rushed.

Indignant. An airport where you go and there is no bathroom available for people who need it, I understand that with the cobi19 things are as they are but that they do not enable bathrooms for people so they wait outside is intolerable and outrageous.
I was left without believing what was happening to me, that I needed a bath and there was none, having to wait more than an hour for arrivals, out of pain.

This Madrid Barajas Airport is quite large, it has several floors that from the moment one arrives but knows, one loses to get to the room that must wait to board the plane, it is important to have several hours between one flight to the other flight so as not to lose the connection with another airline, and reach to go through the elevators, to reach to take the transport that is far within the same airport to reach another waiting room and also to be able to remove straps, jewelry, shoes, or better said, to almost get inscribed to be examined carefully and then get dressed to run to catch the other flight. I really liked the ceiling structure of the waiting rooms and you should bring good Euros to eat inside the airport restaurants because any panini is expensive.

Bad attention from the staff and they made us control in T2 and we had to take the plane in the C36, a lot of haughtiness and superiority from the staff, I who asthmatic gave me an attack of asthma and flatus because of the distance I had run running as in the control the staff stopped us 4 people out of 7 who were in a group and already in the plane the seats were given to all separated and we were going with a small girl of nine years. Very disappointing the deal and the lack of humanity.

Be aware that this is a very large airport. I flew into Madrid from Israel and then needed to fly to Los Palmas which meant going a good 25 minutes to the other side of the airport to catch my flight. Was well signposted in English and the local staff were happy to help.

Review for terminal 4/4S: the airport of your nightmares. Be there well in advance (3h), especially if you fly international. 2h in advance had us nearly missed our flight.

Massive lines to check in at Iberia, massive lines at customs. At the gate, at restaurants. Massive lines everywhere.

If your flight is leaving from 4S you need to take a train to your gate adding 23 minutes after you are through security.

I use Barajas a lot. Split into 3 sections -T4 has a second section - it could be a tad confusing if it's your first time/you're jet lagged/etc..(Could say that about most big airports) Easy to get to the centre from it. Typical airport rip off prices in bars/cafes/restaurants.
Ryanair users: There are coin operated pc and printer booths at entrance doors of T1. Useful - and cheaper than Ryanair - if you've forgotten to print your boarding pass.
