Personally designed airports with all the usual amenities including lounges. Plenty of shopping, restaurants and restaurants available. There's also plenty of artistic features as well.

Very clean and well structured airport. We had really short time to catch our connecting flight and still didn't have any problem. Bonus: free WiFi!

30 minutes waiting for luggage in a not busy airport. Worse than developing countries.

Not lots of food choices, outdated amenities,little bit hard to navigate

The T4 is the best and the most complete in places to be distracted and spaces to eat or drink something. It has train systems and lighting with a modern ceiling with extraordinary height.
If you have connections and you must go from one terminal to another the distances are long and you must walk a lot.
Generally speaking a great airport!

This airport is as beautiful as it is large and it is huge.

20 minute walk to A2 gate. No services or toilets once you enter gate seating area and you cannot get out.

Big airport, It's good and outside there are taxi's and you can get one fast

Staff is not friendly and rather speak English. Waited for more than half an hour at te VAT refund, rang the bell many times and no one come. Asked and only the woman at the information desk can speak English, with unfriendly attitude, and what she said is keep waiting. Bad communication

Airport was good. Quiet and looks new. However, it had a lot of shops and facilities closed due to covid. Which I don't understand why, considering that you need less people in ok me shop and facility, so it would be better to have multiple locations available, but anyways I guess covid makes people do dumb things.

Excellent! Immense with very comfortable VIP rooms.

This airport is huge. The staff are so helpful and kind. You can easily check in and print the boarding pass using the machines available or just stand in the queue if you want. The toilets are very clean and spacious and there are plenty of them. Drinking water faucets are also available in Terminal 2. There are buses approximately every 15 mins from and to the airport. What I didn't like however is the seats. I arrived at midnight so I had to sleep at the airport until morning but all the seats there had armrests that cannot be moved so I couldn't really put my legs up and sleep a couple of hours. Even at the departure terminal there is a lack in benches which makes it uncomfortable.

I heard it's the largest airport in the world, don't know if it's true. However one of friend had other experience according to him "The airport is nice and people working there are nice too. However, the problem is with the Global Exchange at terminal 4 S. They tell you that you can only have your tax refund in your country s currency because your currency is not Euro. It is when you start shouting and yelling when they say oh we just suggested but you have a choice. And then they give you your tax refund in coins so that you can only use them in Europe and cannot exchange them in your country at a better rate".

I am not very traveled but I know that the best way to arrive with time is a world

Really big airport with nice service. You can walk around while waiting for your flight. Just be careful not to miss it!!

Spacious, modern, very clean and superluminous. It has four terminals: T1, T2, T3 and T4 very well connected
from Madrid by bus, subway, taxi or private vehicle. The photos are of the T1, to go by subway to Madrid from this terminal you have to go to the T3, walking is about 20 minutes and there pay a supplement of 3 euros to incorporate the public transport card, but you have the card you can take out there in the vending machines. The airport has restaurants and commercial stores.

Overall a modern, large airport, albeit with a messy system of city-access buses and inter-terminal shuttles. Lots of shops, bars yet shockingly few English-speaking staff in them. Like Madrid, Barajas is clean but boring, not to say lacking any kind of soul whatsoever...can't quite put my finger on it.

Beware of unscrupulous "Tax free" VAT money exchange counters the real EU tax authorities have signs stating "Tax Refund" the fake Tax free counters will charge a unscrupulous fee for "processing" while the EU Tax refund counters don't charge a fee. Was charge a 60% commission at one of these fake Tax free counters, but was in rush and was closest the airline gate.

Beyond having everything that a good airport needs, its architecture is unmatched. Looking at the ceiling is pleasant. It is very large but it is well signposted.

Avoid if possible !!! Terrible and a NoGo.
- The airport is extensive and can hardly be beaten in terms of poor service.
- Smokers are discriminated against
- For stays of several hours, you should definitely go to an exit and leave the airport. You can go through security checks at any time and arrive the last half hour before check-in.
- Prices more than inflated and outrageous with poor quality at the same time
- AirEuropa is the worst and worst airline I have ever flown with (frequent flyer).

I have gone to accompany my daughter who was going on Erasmus.
They did not let anyone pass who did not have a boarding pass.
It does not seem bad to me but they should enable external toilets for the companions who come from far away.
With all the security measures that are necessary.

Very dirty toilets and floor. Bad coffee Drink before entering the airport. And for those hadicaped,,, INFERNO during scan and body control. Discrimination at its best. Unfortunately I am obliged to return...

By metro it's easy to arrive in only twenty minutes and the ticket is free with your flight ticke.

Gigantic airport, magnificent architecture, the airport infrastructure is very good for those who are passing through in connection or even leaving for somewhere.

Well organized and following the necessary provisions to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The staff provides directions clearly and precisely, checking that the safety distances are respected.

It is one of the largest airports in Europe.

Very clean and well connected to the Center of Madrid through buses, metro and taxis. For internal communication you have a free transportation system through a bus that runs through the different terminals so you can make any type of air connection, or leave the city.

Inside the airport there are shops of all kinds and restaurants. There are not many spaces to rest which results in an inconvenience when you have to wait for several hours.

Shuttle bus frequency between Terminals every 40 min! Web site tells every 5 min.

mostly not bad but if you get off a flight and then have another that isnt in gate a or b you do not need to go through any checks or anything which makes sense because you have just come off a flight and not left the gates. but if you have your next flight in gate a or b you have to wait in a huge line just to get your passport checked, they dont even look at your boarding pass, just look at your passport. When you only have an hour to get to your next flight and the walk to the gate is stated by the airport to be 28 minutes long and then to wait in a line to simply get your passport looked at is ridiculous. It created a lot of tension for everyone on the flight and they should come up with a better process for this.

The airport is very good with toilets and quiet places to sleep and internet access is excellent.
There are many electric charging points as there are many shopping and restaurants but they do not operate 24 hours as in many airports in the capitals

Huge airport, plenty of time to move from one terminal to another. No ads for boarding, unclear signage, no smoking area. For controls, nothing to report. The staff makes some efforts to speak French.

It took more than hour from landing till first luggage started coming to the transporter.

Madrid Barajas Airport is huge - multiple terminals all over the city, so be sure you know which terminal you are flying in and out of. You have to take a shuttle from one terminal to the other and it takes about 30 minutes with multiple stops. Give yourself enough time. Beautiful terminal, just really big!

What a mess!!! Need to check luggage more than once if on intercontinental flight! Nice architecture but really third world services, instead of using money to impress electors, use it to give customers a good service!

Very good facilities and well accessible with good movement information

Awful design, you have to get there at least 4 hours before your flight due to several checkpoints. Getting to one point to another is a handful. I don't mind the security but they can definitely improve in the speed of protocols.

I think it is the most disorganized airport ever seen. The bathrooms are practically non-existent .... when you find one you have to queue even to wash your hands. The airport staff besides being rude does not even speak English. In an international airport NO ONE SPEAKS ENGLISH !!!!!

Very nice design and friendly airport , easy access.

Impressive for its size, efficiency and functionality. Congratulations Madrid.

It's not even better. As soon as you arrive you think you are in the Sahara desert or in a North African country. The surrounding area is dry and barren like a skull. The distances to the airport are great but there are plenty of good shops, restaurants and cafes. From this airport you can travel almost all over the world and especially to Central and South America. As a result, since large quantities of drugs are apparently trafficked, controls are very stringent and all passengers are suspicious. If you have an alternative, avoid it!

Worst airport ever. Today me and my husband went to bag drop off counter for Ryan air. And we waited more than 1.5hrs in the long queue then they said counter closed. And we have to took our check in bag with us and ran to the flight. We went through the custom office. They didn t care and dnt like to listen to the people and they removed all of our shampoo cream and all the liquid more than 200euro cost. We tried to explained them the fault was done by airline that s why we couldn t check in this 2 bags. So rude and we about to miss the flight They don t care about your flight or any thing from our side. We are travelling all over the Europe for one month never had this kind of bad experience. Custom officers working very slow and poor service.

Delays over delays, poor English if you actually manage to hear the announcements by the staff. One needs to pay a fee to enter thr airport from the metro. Terrible experience

A very nice airport, to reach the gate I had to walk 40 minutes it would be convenient if there was a transport service from one gate to the other. Some people who were at the boarding desk seemed a little rude to me, they weren't from the airline. For the rest, everything is very nice and quiet and an excellent airport. Perhaps a suggestion, better indicate to the people what ranks you need to do for passport control.

Good airport, very fast and friendly security control, clean bathrooms, maybe the waiting rooms and with few places to sit, but in general good service!

The best transfer airport I know. Despite its immense size, everything is well organized here. Check-in and transfers have always been perfect and stress-free in recent years. The building complex is also architecturally very successful.

Absolutely, stunningly beautiful. The staff were friendly and because you're in Europe it's very well connected with public transit.

Fixed fare to terminal 2 from the center of Madrid is EUR 38,50.

Spectacular airport and more its famous T4 and T4S, perhaps one of the best airports in the world regarding the communication by subway to the city center or the train and AVE stations without stepping on the street. Inside the airport, clear information, given its large dimensions and a transfer airport, you will have to prepare your legs well to ride between airplanes and airplanes, in short, an airport pass, which is the busiest in Spain and one of the largest in Europe

Flight time, 7:00 a.m. Boarding time, 4: 00h. Time the worker arrives (only 1) to his position 5:00. As usual, many people sleeping on the floor and there is not a seat to wait semi-correctly .... Well, as a shot, a worker walks through the halls forcing people to join. How strong!!!!!

Madrid is maybe the worst big, capital city, international airport I have visited. Direction signage is poor, making navigating the huge airport frustrating. Queues are very long and poorly managed. I waited an hour to get my passport stamped to leave the country in Terminal 4S at mid day. Unacceptable. In the baggage claim area there are TVs everywhere showing soccer games and children's cartoons, but TVs showing where to collect your bags are few and far between. The architectural design of the airport is modern and impressive. Unfortunately, the designers didn't put so much effort into usability.

I only visited this airport when I arrived in Madrid so cannot say I saw a lot of it. It does though seem HUGE. After walking through security and getting my suitcase, process was slow because of a strike, I walked, and walked, and walked, until finally reaching the subway station that took me all the way downtown. I found that to be a mega plus! Airport seemed to be clean and well maintained.

The best airport in Spain with a big difference. Correct and clear indications in Spanish in English. Ideograms, pictograms, information panels at the forefront of Europe. Clean and safe. With a variety of added services, shops, cafes, restaurants. And improving every day.

Very good, it needs to be cleaner because it was very dirty, both the floor, the seats that are very limited and ...

As a large airport it is not bad as a facility for customers to go through the very bad since the distances are long do not care for the elderly. They do not have preferential access for pregnant women or families with children or the elderly. There is no help from the airport staff for when you have children, In all airports of what we call the third world there are when you land the baby carriages at your disposal, or they give you your own cart at the boarding gate so that you have all the facilities to move with the children. It is an airport to be zero if it were not because it is well lit. I think we have to learn a lot from the countries we call third worldists in terms of humanity and in terms of making things easier for people in need to older pregnant women and families with children. Not to mention that you don't find any smile from when you enter the airport until you leave or from when you land until you leave it. Regrettable

A good airport, especially for those who want to practice jogging or walking ... big and sometimes the connection time between one flight and another is very little time, we only have to run and a lot!
At most it is clean and well signposted and good infrastructure.
Security is also very good, we didn't have time to try any restaurant due to the tight weather.

Layout of the airport is ridiculous. The signage is good to show you where to go but it takes like 30 minutes to power walk from check in to the gate if you have a far gate. Clean and mostly friendly and helpful staff.

Shame on you, Madrid Barajas International Airport, like many others. Passangers who stay for long connection in T1 terminal, especially at night, like medieval people, must sleep on dusty floor hugging their belongings, just near check-in desks of companies who earn millions yearly (and can not afford to buy few bean bags in every terminal section). Shame! Even Vilnus railway station can do it! Vilnus, Carl!

Huge airport. You have to have enough time for your connecting flights coz you'll be walking up and down and riding trains. Very spacious inside. Design is also nice. Lots of shops like any other major airport..

Didnt like the fact, that we have to pay when getting off the underground to get into the airport
