First time back in over 10 years and incredibly impressed. So much done and further development underway. Everyone loved it.
Well laid-out, easily accessible and a wide variety of animals on display.
A lot of construction and some exhibits were too small and sad
Become a member its sooo worth while especially for families
Nice place to see the animals from Australia and all over the world. Don t miss the giant pandas, they re the only ones in southern hemisphere.
Great fun some animals not present but still lots to see
Great day out for the family. Great selection of animals, kid carts and gophers to ride in. Great food and hospitality. Absolutely great place to have a fun day out together.
Was fun! No elephants, penguins or giraffes. Better off going to Monarto zoo
great place to spend with family and friends. easy walk and plenty of grassy areas for young children to run in
It was really interesting but I must admit I prefer Monarto as it has much larger enclosures for the cats etc
Beautiful location, lots of spots to have a picnic. Great playground and general facilities. Volunteers and staff all lovely and informative. Drink fountains available.
While not as grand as some of the larger zoos, Adelaide hosts plenty of the big-ticket animals (Hippo, Giraffe, Lion, Tiger, Panda) as well as plenty of the smaller, cute animals (Otter, Meerkat, etc). The Panda enclosure is particularly impressive. If possible, attend on a weekday/school day, as the lack of crowds will make for a relaxing and enjoyable experience.
Always a different experience every time. Absolutely love Adelaide zoo, friendly zoo keepers/volunteers, it's always very clean and well looked after :)
Great place to visit. Enclosures clean and the animals were bright and healthy.
We took our little grandson who turned 2 he loved it.
It's a nice zoo. Very clean, the animals were happy and there were lots of staff tending to the enclosures which was nice to see. The toilets and amenities were also very clean. Parking outside the zoo is expensive and only 4 hours long which is quite limiting.
Zoosnooze experience was really awesome. The facilitator was amazing and committed. All the group enjoyed our stay.
Quality zoo. Probably needs a bit more shaded areas for when it is really hot. But still very good.
Nice place... very large though, hence one ought to go early
great place to take the family, we had a work function after hours. The facilities and the experience were the best night out for a long time
It's not overly cheap. However, it must cost a fortune to run and maintain a zoo. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The animal attractions are fantastic and there is a great variety. Kids love the big playground ideally situated next to a great cafe. For when you need a rest. Not something you will go to once a week but definitely worth going to a few times a year.
Awesome place , well maintained.Great for one day trip. Best you can check food timings for different animal and then you can easily watch them
Loving using our family Christmas gift of annual passes to the zoo. It allows us to visit on the spur of the moment for a couple hours without feeling pressured to stay all day to get our entry fee worth. Last time we went it was a very chilly 11 degree day, and all the animals were out & about finding rays of sunlight to bask in, & not hiding from the heat
Good zoo. Very easy and simple. Fun day for kids. Great playground near the Cafe
Just loved the zoo, very well kept, animals looked very well cared for.
Was enjoyable, a little disappointed didnt get to see any giraffes or elephants..
Great day out for the family. Loved seeing the animals looking happy and cared for. Easy to get around, not too many areas that weren't easily accessible with a stroller. Lots of kids around and they were certainly well catered for. Parking could be an issue I envision, however, we were very lucky to get an excellent spot at the very front. I would highly recomend to all.
Great place with lots of animals. We enjoyed our experience here. However the layout of the zoo is confusing, and you would likely miss several exhibits and animals. The is no easy route to see everything. You may need to backtrack and take different routes to get to all animals. Check the map provided at the entrance carefully and tick off what you have seen so you get your full money's worth. Also, summer time would be too hot, with many animals hiding in the shade and some shows cancel due to high heat
A great zoo with incredible facilities and Animals.
Really nice day. Great exhibitions and displays. So green and well kept.
Place was great for my son. Allowed us to get a bit of out of the house time with him while he got to experience all of the animals. The animals are well kept fed and happy as much as they can be in a zoo. I have seen some aplaurable zoos in my time so seeing a zoo that takes such good care of the animals is great.
Lovely guided tour, our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. The animals are very well housed and looked after. The panda exhibit is amazing and well worth a trip from interstate.
What a wonderful group of animals to find here! Kangaroos, koala, panda and meerkat includes some of the world s cutest animals.... not a very big place though but you would like to visit again and again...
The smell is disgusting when you first enter the zoo. But this is only the only minus in the zoo. The zoo is very interesting. There are many animals, cleaned in the enclosures. The staff are responsible and will give you directions so that you don't get lost in the zoo.
Very expensive and animals scarce, Not a lot to get excited about, very disappointed.
3 grandchildren- no lions, bears, no elephants?
Was ok, paid a lot of money to go but very few animals were out of their cages. Pretty disappointing considering the price you pay
I don't go often but Adelaide Zoo is always a calming, relaxing experience. lots of cuties doing cute things. Nice places to sit and relax. all of the animals are fun to watch! and the birds talk.
The pandas are a big draw card. Being close to the CBD is a big plus
Easy to get around and the animals seem well looked after. Great children's areas. We have annual membership which we see as a contribution to conservation as well as a great place to visit. No keeper talks because of covid ATM. Love just sitting and watching the chimps literally hanging around the trees. The lyrebird put on a great display for us going through camera, kookaburra and other bird sounds as we took our time wandering and pausing in the walk through bird aviaries. Cheap parking nearby on weekends.
Every time we go, its a different experience, my toddler loves the zoo and loves the excellent kids adventure zone. Great day for the whole family.
Nice zoo. Beautiful gardens. Can't wait for them to have more animals in some of the enclosures. Some seem a bit empty in some of them. Worth a trip.
Not enough animals bit of a rip off hey big money and see very few animals
Absolutely amazing always have the best time, worth evey cent
We had to the honour to see movement in the panda habitat. Wang Wang ate and walked to the cave for a visit. We had equal entertainment seeing the stuffed pandas at the shop.
Later we watched the Tiger and lions feed and grumble / pur. I've been to the zoo many times and never seen this. It only took a baby to witness these special moments. This is such a great zoo and a great learning experience for the little ones.
Sad... animal plaques everywhere such and died, closed exhibits, too many to count, out of order signs, 10% surcharge holiday being Easter Saturday no flamingos, no otters, no zebras, cats... only one lion and lioness, no birds if prey, pretty sad really nice staff but lots if meea cats bonus!!
Enjoyed several hours with the family exploring the grounds. Beautiful animals, some exotic animals too! Lovely grounds, well kept, expensive food and drink though, come prepared!
Great place, really well laid out zoo. Good range of animals all with well thought out viewing points.
This is mine and my 2 kids favourite place in the world. The more you go, the more amazingly cool things you see
Great day out with lots of shaded places to walk and sit in between
Beautiful enclosures, animals kept nice and cool with sprinklers etc, plenty of shade throughout. Great variety of animals.
Unfortunately we were there during a cold, drizzly day and most of the inhabitants wanted to stay curled up in their warm beds....I don't blame them though!
We had a great time at the Adelaide Zoo with plenty of animals to see, some were hiding in the shade as it was a hot day. The Meerkats were adorable and not shy of the camera. They have a great cafe with a good menu and reasonable prices and plenty of parking close to the entrance.
Such a fantastic zoo! Our tour guide Rob was so knowledgable and passionate we had an amazing time there, the animal exhibits are done so well, I was so impressed with this zoo and loved watching the little monkey's run over my head through their runway. Their conservation is incredible, I highly recommend any wildlife or conservation lover to visit here! Definitely recommend partaking in the panda & friends tour, great way to see the zoo before hours and see the Panda's in action getting their morning food!
A lovely family day out, so much to see, very well maintained, feeding times were fun and the Pandas were gorgeous. Highly recommended.
An amazing zoo, the little ones will love the animals and the amazing adventure play area
Amazing place to spend the day. The zoo is organized and the animals seems to be very good taken care of. This zoo is the only one in the south of the equator to have Pandas. Great experience.
The gardens outside the zoo are also excellent to do picnics and chill.
I absolutely love the Adelaide zoo. Seeing all different types of animals, it is a great walk to go through the whole zoo. Definitely a great family day out here :)
Bit expensive but well layed out. Several options to pat some of the animals, nice new playground which is great for kids
The G. Pandas were cool, as was the flying fox colony outside the zoo. Otherwise too hot for the animals. The staff you could tell were very conscientious. Zoo maps and signage left room for improvement as it was difficult to find one's way around...
Pandas are the main attraction of this zoo. It's located in the CBD. Parking down Frome road.
I have always loved the zoo, went for the first time today in 7 years. It has changed so much but is still one if the best places to go and enjoy a day out with family and friends. I just wish it was cheaper so I could go more.
Great function areas, friendly staff and security personnel for our after hours event and an opportunity to see the pandas.
Nice place to spend the day, fun for the whole family. Nice and friendly environment and good facilities
Beautiful experience for children to see the animals
A mediocre zoo with satisfactory facilities and many diverse species ranging from giant pandas to sea lions and penguins. However, the zoo is rather diminutive in size and in animal enclosures there is usually only one animal. Moreover, the zoo is crowded with people.
Although the zoo is decent, the primary concern, however, lies in the price. At 96 for a family ticket this small zoo is much more expensive than its competitors. Value for money can be considered as extremely inferior and many exhibitions are monotonous and plain. There is simply inadequate experiences and interests to balance the price. Nevertheless, the south-Asian trail, the pandas bamboo forest and the nocturnal exhibitions are some of the highlights though.
Had a great time on our recent visit.
Entry Fee: Was glad to see a family ticket that allowed for 3 children!! Fantastic, we are often put off visiting place due to having to pay the extra child fee.
It's pricey for a family to get in (but average for this sort of venue) so make sure you make the most of your day there, by either having another adult to pop out and top up your 4hr car park or park further away in the 10hr spaces.
Extra Costs: Food was average price for a venue like this these days. So either make sure you've got plenty of food money or bring your own. We purchased lunch but made sure we took our own drinks and snacks. There is also the zoo shop full of stuffed toys and loads of goodies for the kids, we stayed away this time however have purchased things in there previously and found items in a huge range of prices to suit everyone.
Our favourite new addition: The Tamerin Monkey enclosure that goes across the path and along the edge of the lawn area near the rotunda. We loved it and spent a lot of time watching the monkeys. See our photos.
Could Improve on: the toilets near the playground area. Many people, including ourselves were shocked to only see 2 toilets there - they had wheelchair access which was great - but we spent a fair amount of time lining up for the toilet.
A wonderful day out with my sister and one-year-old. Was only let down by the massive entry costs, which we understand, the clister of cafes near the entrance leaving the resy of the zoo devois of sustenance (lol) and the fact that the only place to get cash out was not actually accessible from inside the zoo.
Really clean and tidy zoo. Amazing gardens and animal displays. Was a great day out! Highly recommend going, especially for little kids.
Sometimes it is great to just go for a walk in the zoo. Take time to read plaques on plants, stare at an animal or two and then relax. It really isn't rocket science.
This zoo is amazing as its been around for many years with the backing of many famous animal people. It is the only place in Australia to see Pandas from China. It's a small city zoo so it has lots of very special places to visit. It's one of the nicest Zoos I have had the pleasure of visiting many times over my lifetime... from my early childhood when I was amazed at the many different animals to visit with young children as an adult... I still get the same excitement and love of the animals
really enjoyed the beautiful gardens walkways the animal enclosures and friendly staff. Had lunch with friends and we made our way around the zoo. Excellent day out. Highly recommend for families.
Lots to see and do with a wide variety of animals that seem well cared for.
Cafe was expensive and the food very average.
Good to take puplic transport as the parking charges are very expensive. Not many animals but good for couple of visits with ur kids
The Royal Adelaide Zoo is a Great Experience for the Whole Family They have a Patting Zoo and the 2 Giant Pandas are Beautiful there Names are Wang Wang and Fune
Updated playgrounds and everything else was awesome as always.
Easy walk around to all animals, plenty of places to rest if you need a little sit down. Loved the hippo! Easy access from Adelaide cbd, jump on tram to botanic gardens then walk down to zoo.
Animals were super active when I went, got amazing photos, sooo happy
I love coming to the zoo because i love to see all the animals, the staff are friendly and welcoming. But i found that last time the animals weren't as active as i hoped :'( so i can only assume that the animals had an off day. But i do very much love coming to the Zoo. Thanks to the Staff for taking good care of the animals.
Great zoo with easy access for prams and great gardens to enjoy as well. My kids are all little and it's the best day out. Worth getting a yearly pass for. Plus you can visit Monato zoo on the same pass.
Brilliant zoo. Lovely location. Everything I wanted to see I saw. Not a bad price $36. Animals seem happy. Loved the native animal encounters.
Adelaide Zoo is a lovely day out. Membership is well worth it if you have children, under 4s are free and we go quite often.
Last visit we saw some of the dinosaurs and giant insects as part of the Colossal Creatures exhibit. Nice to see something different.
Beware of the greedy goats in the children's zoo, they love to eat paper and maps as well.
Fun place to hangout with family and friends..
Natural beauty everywhere... variety of animals.. sometimes hard to find them as mostly they hiding.. must be bored by seeing human creatures..
