AAA Reading Berks Reviews

My wife and had an overheating engine issue around 4:30 in the afternoon/evening on Thanksgiving day 2024 in Lebanon county. Called Berks AAA for a tow which was forwarded to Lebanon AAA because Reading Berks shuts down their “24 hour” service. After being told a tow would be dispatched we waited for over an hour in a car with no heat (engine block cracked and antifreeze leaked out; temps in the 40’s). I called AAA again and a 2nd operator told me that they were coming and that they should be calling me in minutes. We waited another 20 minutes and no one came, so I called back to cancel the tow as I thought I would just risk getting my 2025 Toyota Camry to the dealership 7 miles away. Found out from the 3rd operator on the 3rd call that a tow was actually never dispatched. WHAT? I was lied to.
Called Reading Berks AAA the next day and they immediately blamed Lebanon county AAA, and that it’s not their responsibility. But I said “I called the emergency Reading Berks # and was told your calls were being forwarded to them anyway, plus I have my membership through you. You say that you provide service 24/7 365.” His response, “Oh that’s not a guarantee.” I said “Really? So why do I have AAA?” So I can be stranded and WONDER if I’m going to get help from you?” I asked what they were going to do to make up for this and was told that the service call Thanksgiving day won’t count against my account. That’s it? As of today I haven’t heard anything more from Reading Berks AAA after they told me that they were going to investigate and look into this.
I will probably cancel my membership; why have it? I’m a pastor in Hamburg and a volunteer firefighter in that community. I know what it means to be available to do fire calls and help people at all hours of day and night. In fact I’m going to be on call for fire calls on Christmas Day this year.
As for AAA, don’t get caught stranded because they may not help you!! And they’ll not take responsibility for a major mistake. Is it worth having AAA if help will not come??

I am very disappointed at the service concerning the billing. In the last 2 visits, I'm disabled, and I receive a discount, anyway. That happen the 2nd time. They did not listen to me and put me on hold and never return. They owe me money still

Employees Very helpful for your travel needs & polite.

Not the best. I ordered a new license plate for my new car in Nov 2020. I called March 4 and was told they had a plate and registration for my car. The vanity plate I ordered was not the plate that was delivered. I'm now waiting again for the proper plate to arrive. Don't know why the proper plate wasn't received? Who's at fault I don't know?

I had an easy time making my membership payment. The security on the transaction is good.

I recommend making payments online rather than through the mail service which has become too slow for time sensitive transactions.

Still has that Family feel unlike other corporate AAA's. Can be used for many different needs. Traveling or just renewing your membership. Glad I've been a part of the Family! Always get a AAA Membership because you never know when you may need it!!

The woman who assisted me was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions about Seapass.

Staff, Olthia Knobel was extremely rude. I had ask if there was a place that was a little more private and quiet. Ms. Knobel, stated in a very rude, condescending tone, "You can go somewhere else if you want private and quiet" My husband and I were there to have some notory work completed. Ms. Knobel took the documents and proceeded to take them all out of order and pulled out the documents to be notorized, had us sign them and then took all the signed documents to another area of the office and notorized them. We did not witness her sign / notorize the documents.
$24 later my husband & I had to go home and place the 50 page document packet back into order before returning them to the title company.
I would recommend if you need ANY services from Reading AAA to request that Ms. Knobel not assist you. She is very unprofessional.

Quick roadside help. My battery needed to be replaced. They replaced the battery and got my truck running. They were very helpful. I continued my membership for another year.
