I am extremely disappointed in Hofstra University and its employees. We have paid our deposit, have made numerous attempts to contact financial aid to have questions answered and STILL have not received a call back. So we tried contacting others we have dealt with along the way via email and phone messages. STILL NO RESPONSE. What a real disappointment. My daughter WILL NOT be attending Hofstra!

I have not attended this school yet, but I am starting to get the feeling that if the students who are commenting on this portal completed the required internships and maintained above a 3.0 GPA (average), their education might not have "sucked."

The campus is beautiful and the college community is very friendly. Of course, there are those few people who ruin it for everyone, but on the whole, everyone is willing to help if you ask. The student body is usually pretty great, but the administration rarely seem to know much more than the students if that. If you need assisstance, they're not the ones to ask. Though it is a party school, you aren't obligated to attend jn order to be social. They have plenty of other free events (movies, field trips, amusement park excursions) all throughout the year. Especially if you're in honors college, the expensive cost of tuition (there are a lot of hidden fees) seems to be covered by all the free trips and food and freebies they lug out every week. The campus can't be called small, but it isn't hopelessly massive either. The food choices are pretty decent with a good variety, albeit quite pricey. The dorms are what you would expect of dorms. They are clean and manageable. The bathrooms of the suite housing areas can be nasty, but that's because the students before didn't manage them properly. The communal bathrooms are cleaned daily and are very clean. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the school.

the teachers and academics are really great, the environment on campus is amazing. Everyone you meet is super involved and interesting. The food is pricy and not super amazing but there are so many places around campus to enjoy.

Awesome university and visit. The staff and students were friendly and helpful. As touring the campus, people spoke and talked and made us feel like a part of the campus. The admissions staff care about the well being of the students rather than number crunching. This is a midsize school where students and professors are able to bond. Its located 30 mins away from NYC in Long Island. Jones Beach is nearby is you like going to the beach. There's 20 eateries on campus. The dining hall is open 24/7. There's something for everyone to eat from pizza to burgers to sushi. There's also several options for vegans and vegetarians. I haven't seen that a lot in touring campuses. Each student is required to do an intern which will benefit the student in the long term. 98% have jobs or go to graduate school after graduation. There's a high retention rate of students that come to Hofstra.

I loved it but now I'm not so sure. My daughter has been asking her advisor for help in getting an internship since the winter when she was a junior. She is now a senior, and must have an internship done to graduate. My daughter has asked her advisor for help in at least 10 emails. The advisor keeps pushing her to the side...Upon visiting the university, it was great--all that was promised, anyway! My daughter will now visit the President of the University, Mr. Rabinowitz in hopes of getting help. She makes Deans list EVERY semester and also made PROVOST. With all of the money we pay, the LEAST we should expect is a little help! We shall see, because if my daughter does not graduate in May 2016 because of this nonsense you will hear from a very angry mother!!!!!

My son attended Hofstra as an undergraduate and grad student and was on the Provost list. Excellent school! Great professor. If you are looking for an amazing experience Hofstra is the university for you!!!

I attended Graduate school at Hofstra in the late 80s, early 90s... absolutely loved my experience here. I've been at the same profession for almost 30 years and have had a prosperous and exciting life, mostly due to the phenomenal education I received here. I'm very glad I attended when I did. I have so many really great memories. I would not want to attend today, with all these offended snowflakes.

Went to this college and had some great experiences there and it was such a nice campus. They always kept up with the latest technology but the only problem is that their tuition costs are very costly. Other than that, it is a quality university.

I have never attended or participated in any programs or voluntary services here at Hofstra. However, we enrolled our daughter in a Saturday reading program. I enjoyed the scenery. My children enjoyed the effects the fall season has on the trees. The leaves on the trees were golden rust and different hues of yellow and brown colors mixed with the leaves already fallen on the ground created the perfect fall campus scenery. Hofstra has a nice campus.

A nice campus. I play soccer here but I also attended undergrad school here. As with any school you have some really great teachers and some who shouldn't ever teach. I was a commuter, along with the majority of the students. This is both a positive and a negative. No Football, sports are not widely known among the student population. The school did have the presidential debate twice, which is awesome. However, there is much room for improvement for the price you pay to attend the school.

I am a graduate of Hofstra '07 and I loved it. It is a great school with a wonderful campus and its not too far from NYC. Long Island was a great place to go to school, definitely made the college experience fun. Only thing bad about Hofstra is the cost. It is rather expensive.

I will never be able to thank Hofstra enough for the amazing life experience I've had so far. I met so many wonderful people, students, faculty members, they have all been great. Yes tuition is pricy, but if you take advantage of everything that Hofstra has to offer you cant go wrong.

As a tourist in a studio vacation made at 18 in 2012, I have fantastic memories of this structure. The campus is really huge. We had to walk a lot from the dorms to the classrooms, but the journey was always more than pleasant. The buildings are modern and neat, and the view is absolutely impressive. The large green areas, the trees and the squirrels that almost touch the passers-by are truly spectacular! I regret only that I could not visit the campus in full.

Went to for a tour as my son is graduating next year and wanted to get a feel of the campus and standards. Place was clean and quiet, the facility was pretty new and staff was nice and attentive. Prices are just like everyone else so it made me feel comfortable and trusting that it is a good place for my child to learn and grow.

Love the school, atmosphere, freedom, and teachers. The administration on the other hand isn't too helpful with aiding students with the financial aspect. Def a good choice if you have your finances together.

I stayed here for a brief period as a foreign student. The campus is nice and big, the common areas are well kept and the classrooms are just fine. I found the rooms a bit small and i pretty much hated the food that was served at the buffet. Once you get outside the area quickly gets worse and there isn't much to see unless you head off to NY..
My stay was nice overall, just lower your expectations. The main attraction will always be Manhattan and that's where i suggest you to spend most of your spare time in.

Engineering staff is awesome. Campus is very nice. Very easy to start a club and get the school to pay for traveling to conferences. I traveled all over the country for free. Close to NYC and the beach. Loved my experience there, but it is expensive. Hopefully you have a scholarship or a sugar mama. Also don't let the administration staff put you through the "Hofstra Shuffle". They'll always tell you you're in the wrong office and send you on a tour of the campus. Eventually you learn how things work, and you can school them when they tell you incorrect information.

I m already well into my first semester at a college in Texas but I still get emails from this university. They ve shifted from asking me to apply for regular admission there to asking me to apply for a transfer. Like I want to abandon all my plans down here, move all my stuff up there, and transfer to a university that doesn t have my major and isn t even that good. Don t ever give them your contact information you will regret it.

Class of 2012 here. Hofstra was a miserable place ...

Class of 2012 here. Hofstra was a miserable place when I was a student there, and they basically set me up for financial ruin. First, keep in mind that in 2017, Hofstra, a non-profit, tax-exempt organization, brought in more than a half a BILLION dollars in revenue, according to their Form 990. They pay their president a million-dollar salary plus perks while horribly abusing the actual educators. Also, he's unreachable because his office is atop a golden elevator that's guarded at all times. #Education

Hofstra misrepresented my financial aid package every semester I was there, and when I graduated I had twice the debt I was told I'd have. By the time I finish paying, I'll have spent almost $200,000 on my degree. And let me assure you, the jobs ain't paying that much.

Speaking of jobs, when I called the career services office for help because my current job's at a dead-end and I'm having trouble finding a new one in my field, the office refused to speak to me unless I paid them. They won't offer their alums career services, but they're SUPER quick to send me donation requests. Because a half a billion is just not covering it I guess (and the half billion isn't counting the $35 million they got in donations last year, before you @ me).

Honestly, go to a state school. Farmingdale State is 15 minutes from Hofstra and you can get a 4-year degree there for the cost of 1 year at Hofstra. Whatever positive academic experience I had has been completely overshadowed by the fraud and nonsense this place pulled. Don't ruin your future. Stay away from Hofstra.

Students want to remove the Jefferson statue.
Shows that they don t know history or get their information from the professors at the University. They should read The Jefferson Lies .
