If you're a pirate aficionado, love unique gifts or love to support children honing (and improving) their skills, definitely stop by this shop where you'll find it hard to walk out empty-handed. It's definitely the place you want to go if you plan on being a pirate for halloween as they have nearly everything you need to accessorize that pirate halloween costume.

Don't miss the fish theater up front as well as the signs throughout the space. Reading the fun signs along could take a half hour!

826 Valencia Pirate Store also offers a unique storefront full of everything you need to be a pirate and enjoy the pirate lifestyle. Initially opened to support the writing efforts of children in the local community, they also publish and promote the works if the program members.

In the front of the store is also a small theater seating area with an aquarium where you can spend some time imagining you are at sea to set the stage for your shopping visit.

A bit smaller than expected, but still very cool. Most supplies sold are made locally in San Francisco. And there is a sort of creative writing workshop in the back section. They also have free decorative map of Valencia St.

The name is great, and they have some fun stuff here. However, it seems more of a tourist thing than a place I'd really like to buy some pirate themed things and get an experience from. There is a shop down the block with cool things like stuffed mice dressed in little outfits, skulls, etc that was a lot cooler to hang out in.

Anyway, it's a nice shop, neat, worth a stop, but suffers in comparison.

This store is a real delight. The front is a dedicated pirate shop with everything one could need to sail the high seas and the back a dedicated writing workshop for children.

If you're looking for a gift for any children or adults who are interested in pirates this is definitely the place. Pins, patches, mermaid tails and more - there is a wide range of toys and paraphernalia.

One of the things I like most is that you can buy books of works from graduates from the workshops. All proceeds from sales go towards the workshops.

This rather special shop is also an association that helps the children of the district, Mission District, by offering free activities. for that, they sell a lot of things that have to do with the theme of pirates. Amazing shop with a very friendly and welcoming staff. Deco hacker and lots of little surprises to discover!

Love this shop - a treasure trove for pirates and land lubbers alike. Visit for all your nautical needs - from 'parrot planks', glass bottles of sea salt and ancient maps. (And the children's writing workshop area at the back looks great!)

One of the most unique places in San Francisco. Authentic pirate gear and baubles to amuse all children, big or small. Plus all funds go to support the writing and tutoring workshops they host in the back of the store. Definitely worth a trip!

Also known simply as "826 Valencia," the Pirate Supply Store is a front for the local outpost of Dave Eggers' 826 National, a non-profit organization that provides free writing and tutoring services to schoolchildren. You can feel good knowing that your purchase at the pirate store directly supports the organization's efforts.

Pirates with a cause. A proper pirate shop with an area at the back that supports kids through creative writing activities. You can buy pirate items (like eye patches) which all goes towards the cause. It's a shop of curiosities with a peaceful cinematic fish tank area to relax in - away from the kids who were surprisingly well behaved! Super cool printed t-shirts for the kids, men and pirates in your life.

So, this place is known for its extensive collection of eyepatches. What really stands out, though, is their selection of artisanal artificial limbs and hooks. I picked out a great handcrafted mahogany peg leg here, and couldn't be happier. 5/5. Would pillage again.

Witty, irreverent nonprofit store selling cute trinkets and piratey things to support a writing nonprofit in the back of the store. Great spot to duck into and explore while walking Valencia Street -- be sure to read all of the signs and open the drawers for some hidden surprises and many jokes. There's a "fish theatre" as well -- exactly what it sounds like! Two theatre seats in a darkened, curtained-off corner of the store where you can just sit and watch a blowfish and a few other fishies in a tank. Cute, quirky, adorable little place.
