San Francisco and the mid-sixties were a special place and a special time to be a part of. But no explanation, no mixture of words, music and memories could touch the awareness of being there, alive, in that corner of time and world, whatever that meant. There was madness in every direction, at any time, you could spark sparks everywhere, there was a fantastic, universal feeling that whatever we were doing was right, that we were winning. And that, I think, was our foothold, that sense of inevitable victory over the forces of the old and evil, not in a violent or evil sense, we didn't need it, our energy would simply prevail, we had all the momentum, we rode the crest of a very high and wonderful wave.
