Bought a ex-demo KIA, which had done about 800km. The day I put a deposit on the car it was not in the yard. It was Saturday and I was told that the service manager had taken it home. On paying the deposit, I asked the sales person if any damage in the car would be fixed and she confirmed that they would.
Came to pick the car up a week later and there was damage on the plastic lining in the boot and paint scratches. When I spoke to the Sales Manager, his words were: What do you expect, it is an ex-demo and the car was being sold as is.
The Sales person spoke to the Service Manager and asked him if the damage could be fixed and he said the same words as the Sales Manager. I asked to see the Service Manager and he did not come out to see me. He went around the back instead and looked at the car then advised the sales person that he will get is fixed. The contract was signed with notes on it to that effect.
The service manager told the sales person the he will put an order through for the parts and it should be there in a week.
Two weeks went by and I did not receive a call from the service department. Upon inquiring I was told that the parts would be in and when I dropped the car for the first service, it would be replaced.
Upon booking the service, I clearly stipulated what was required and also provided reception with a copy of the contract stating the repairs that needed to be done.
I inspected the car when I picked it up and the plastic lining was replaced with one taken out from another second hand car in the yard. Paint scratches were not fixed.
The service manager said that he had replaced the lining and when I told him about the paint scratches, he said that the person that comes in to do the scratches needs to be booked in advance and that he had not seen the copy of the contract that I had left with them. After looking at the contract, he said that the part will be ordered and I will get a call once it arrives. A week later I called back and was told that it was on back order. Now it is over 3 weeks since the service and no call from the service department. It is over 3 mths since I bought the car and am still waiting for the matter to be sorted.
This is my second car that I have bought from Heartland and this has been the worst service I have encountered anywhere. From the Sales Manager to the Service Manager. The Salesperson (Lauren) was helpful.
My family has since bought another brand new Kia but we have kept away from Heartland KIA after this experience.
I am contemplating taking the matter to the Department of Fair Trading.
