When I reached 42k miles on my 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid, the dashboard display panel went blank rendering most of the safety features lost including the reverse camera, turn camera, Bluetooth functions, gas consumption indications, radio and clock functions etc.. When I contacted American Honda headquarters I was told that I need to take the car to the service facility and as I have passed 36k mileage I am responsible for costs associated with the repair. I tried to convey them that the fault has to be an inherent malfunctioning or corruption of the Honda s electronic system components rather than extraneous wear that can be attributed to my use of this vehicle. Honda dealer charged me $70.61 for the diagnosis and replaced the defective Center audio display , at a cost of $446.37. Though I paid for the repair out of safety concerns, I strongly believe losing electronic system modules at 42k is premature and indicates a defective component for which American Honda should be responsible. American Honda declined to bear the cost of this repair. Should I buy a Honda or an Acura in the future? I think the answer is obvious.
Honda's 36k warranty indicates their lack of confidence on their own products. This is when many other auto manufacturers offer 70 and 100k warranties.
