I have been a LOYAL tenant here for 2-years at Bix...

I have been a LOYAL tenant here for 2-years at Bixby Knolls Apts.! I've NEVER paid my rent late and, IN FACT, have paid my rent MONTHS in advance on occasions. I've never had a problem here, until today! My lease ends on 3/31/2016 and I'm moving to another property. My security deposit was $1,420 and I thought that maybe I would get back about $1,200 based on whatever they decided was fair to keep to cover anything. Mind you, I am a VERY clean tenant and did not foresee much being deducted from my Security deposit. However, once maintenance did my walk-through, they came up with a figure of $547.61 to withhold for things like:

1. Painting
2. Cleaning Unit
3. Cleaning Blinds
4. Cleaning Carpet
5. Refinishing Kitchen Counter (the laminate counter top that has NORMAL wear and tear from 2-years of cooking and cleaning!)

I would BYPASS this Rental Company! They may seem nice, but the price of the units and the games they play with your security deposit is NOT worth the headache. I've attempted to help them understand my concerns, but it seems to be falling on deaf ears. I don't think this is a way to treat GOOD tenants who've lived here for 2+ years.

I have already filed a complaint with the Department of Consumer Affairs and plan on filing a suit, should they not refund more of my deposit for these absurd charges.
