Review of Davis Airporter

If you need to go to Davis from the Sacramento air...

If you need to go to Davis from the Sacramento airport (or vice versa), Uber (or another car sharing service) is definitely a better option. Upon arrival at the Sacramento airport, it was very easy to find the Airporter shuttle, and the driver was very professional. The cost for my travel was $23. Interestingly, this is the same price as a Uber ride.

I received a confirmation from the Davis Airporter that I would be picked up at 3:30am (for my 5:40am flight out of Sacramento). A few hours prior to departure, however, Davis Airporter called to tell me my time was switched to 3:50am. When I asked why the time was different from the confirmed time, I was asked by the Davis Airporter operator what are you worried about? After picking up some more riders (who were difficult to locate) in Davis, we finally left Davis around 4:20am. I did make my flight, but did not have a lot of time to spare and also had to stand in a long line to board the flight (which would have been much shorter had Davis Airporter been on time).

There are services in addition to Uber that will bring you to the Sacramento airport from Davis at any time of the day (without having to stop for additional riders like a shuttle does). I understand the logistic difficulties associated with picking up multiple riders from different locations, but if Davis Airporter wants to remain competitive in an age of Uber and related services, they need to do a better job of ensuring the quality of their phone operators and adjusting their fares.

Long story short, if you re traveling from/to Davis/Sacramento, use Uber.
