I guess they aren't into tapas here...On Saturday night, looking to stop in for a couple of margaritas and some appetizers, the hostess refused to seat my wife and I. It was insulting and demeaning and we will never return, even though we have dined and drank at Barocina at least a dozen times. The loose reasoning the hostess used was that tables were reserved for dining patrons only - however there were many two tops around the bar that were completely unoccupied, and she refused to seat us there either. Our only option was the packed bar. Now we have done this before at barocina, split appetizers and margaritas before moving on. Our tab is usually $50+ and we'll stay about 30 minutes? My wife and proceeded to spend a couple of hundred dollars at the new hotel on the pier, at riptide, at Waterfront Hotel and at Abbey Bistro - all of which had no problem accommodating us when we said oh we're going to have a few drinks and share some plates. Our first stop did not derail our night, but a nicer hostess would have figured out a way to accommodate guests, not to just say no. There are so many other great places to patronize in Fells Point. I won't miss Barocina.
