The Bronx Zoo is a great place to spend a day while in New York City. Yes, it is in the Bronx and yes it is super easy to get to from the subway.

Wednesdays are free days. They ask you to make a donation if you can.

Make certain to get there early and have good walking shoes as this is a very large zoo with plenty of hills. The hills have both stairs and ramps so everyone has access. What a great treasure to have so close to everything.

We were there on Wednesday during spring break and the place was PACKED! This added to the atmosphere as we were mentally prepared.

Our favorite moment was actually another zoo visitor yelling to his kids in an undeniable New York accent "THEY GOT BEARS! THEY GOT BEARS!!!"
