D LG Review of Thompson Mechanical

In dealing with Thompson Mechanical, I learned the hard lesson that a good deal isn't always a good deal. I purchased a Goodman furnace and central air from them in 2005 and the nightmare started within a few short years. The unit is garbage and the installation workmanship was as bad. They even left screws off in various places that I called about, but they never returned to correct, so I wound up doing it myself. I had a bad pressure switch last spring and I called them to fix. The guy came out and said it would cost $200. While he was going to get the part, I looked it up online and saw that it was only a $15 part and was easy to replace. I sent him away and fixed it myself in 10 minutes. Yes, I got a reasonably good deal, but it is clearly a low quality unit, as I've been having problems every winter since a few years after the install, not to mention the shoddy installation. I have been thinking about writing a review for years, but didn't want to be that guy. Now that it's winter again and I'm having problems again, my anger returned and I had to let people know how shady and low quality they are. Bottom line, don't go cheap on your furnace, it's too important. Find a respected contractor and buy a respected brand. You'll spend a little more, but you'll be glad you did 10+ years later!
