Everything in the W is dark, and aimed at someone ...

Everything in the W is dark, and aimed at someone very specific who is not me. It think it's for consultants and out of town finance workers in their early 20s. Don't look to closely at the details at the W downtown or you'll begin to see the flaws very quickly. Whilst the bar is lovely, it doesn't open until 4pm and closes bizarrely early too. Maintenance was poor with things like bathroom doors not locking, shower head leaking, etc, but what will never leave me is how filthy everything was in a place that REALLY IS very easy to keep clean. When I dropped something on the floor, I noticed the hard edged white laminate bed frame as I bent to pick it up, covered in horrific stains, and as I looked under the bed I found someone else's half-eaten mars bar, sweet wrappers, personal items, underwear and more. It was truly disgusting.

What was fabulous, however, was the view out over the 9/11 memorial, the bluetooth speaker for your personal audio, and the excellent easy to use alarm clock, which I think is one of the things hotels often don't get right and the W got perfectly.
