I've just learned that the state can send you a tax bill that you don't owe, that you have proof of being paid many months ago, and there's not a damn thing you can do about it.
Why is this? Because literally every time I try to call the number on the document, and go through all of the prompts, it always ends with "all representatives are currently busy, please try your call again later." So I do that. A dozen times within the past week, at different times of the day. Doesn't matter. Filed a dispute online a week ago. Any response? Nope.
Now they're threatening wage garnishment upon a family member, and there is literally no recourse.

Oh, and for further lols. The recorded message "Our contact center is currently closed, please call back during regular business hours" is fantastic, since it doesn't then tell you what those hours are. Apparently closing time is 4:30. Man, I love having some of the highest taxes in the country. Really makes me feel like everything I put into the system is well used.
