I had reached my full retirement age and retired, but, because of the major reduction in my income, I was no longer able to afford my alimony payments. Mr. Matez was assigned to my divorce settlement case by the courts, and with agreement by my attorney and my ex's attorney. Having never met Mr. Matez prior to this mediation - and having never been involved in any type of mediation - I was pleasantly surprised by his relaxed and friendly approach, and how he quickly put both my ex and myself at ease. He spoke to both of us and offered encouraging words to both relax us and to put us on notice that this was to be a positive mediation designed to begin the process of negotiation where negativity would have no place. The mediation began, continued and ended in a positive manner and, to my pleasant surprise, we were able to reach a mutual agreement in this first and only session. I am truly appreciative of Mr. Matez's approach and obvious expertise in mediation. Additionally, Mr. Matez had everything formalized and to both of our attorneys in mere hours.
