THE NEGATIVES:
THE NEGATIVES:
SERVICE
>>When I went down to breakfast - not one member of staff approached me to ask if I would like a drink - this is not a five start service, yet the hotel proudly displays certificates which do not reflect the service.
>>I was approached in the hotel by two male members of staff (together) as though I was a trespasser for looking around. They were stone faced, no greeting, no hello, no smiles, just rude - and they have the cheek to cal this a five star hotel - is this how you train your staff to treat paying customers?
>>Guest relations will demand that you come and see them on a day they decide - and tell you to be there before 4pm - you would think it was an emergency - but no. Guest relations will proceed to as pointless questions about how happy you are with your stay and tell you about a free meal in one of the a la carte restaurants (not sure why they don't just include this in a welcome pack or give you a voucher when you check in, instead of disturbing during your holiday). The a la carte restaurants are not free - despite claiming to be an all inclusive hotel - so they think you'll be grateful for the 'free meal' - how patronising.
>>Staff were generally unfriendly and need some intensive training in people skills and customer service
ROOMS
>>The deadlock on the room door kept sticking - I had to get my tweezers to fiddle with it to make it work properly - makes you wander if someone had been messing with the lock.
>>All the drinks in the room fridge are fizzy apart from the water.
>>Make sure you take a travel iron because they won't lend you one - but there 'is' a kettle
>>The power went offing my too one night at around 11pm. Reception were unable to offer an explanation.
>>Some days, housekeeping didn't bother to replace toiletries in the bathroom - and this is five star!!!!
>>On one day I was given mismatching pillow cases for a double bed - and a 'cream' coloured towel, off white, as apposed to the customary white towel - again this is what they call five star - what a joke
>>They were also tight with the teabags when replenishing the rooms - not sue what they were doing with the teabags that should have been in my room!!!!!
>>Absolutely awful power generator went off outside at around 5am
THE BEACH
>>The beach was very disappointing, It looked like a shipwreck. There were metal frames everywhere like skeletons on the beach, and there was barely any shade if you chose to sit on a sun longer, all of which had dirty cushions. The beach looked barren and unwelcoming.
THE FOOD
It was nothing like the food you get in a Turkish restaurant - but there was plenty of choice. The desserts are very sweet - I had one dessert that was even sweeter than balaclava - great if you have a sweet tooth, but don't dare ask for orange juice or apple juice - good gosh!!!!!!!!! The amount of sugar the add to the fruit juice is unprecedented - it's disgusting, I couldn't drink the stuff.
THOMAS COOK REP
>>Thomas Cook Rep didn't hang around for more than 30 mins - reception staff said he had gone and they were unable to confirm when he would be back again - a one hour slot would be more reasonable surely. It was also unclear whether the slot was a drop-in or and formal presentation with a time scale. Virgin and TUI usually state clearly if a formal presentation/talk is taking place, in addition to rep availability slots at the hotel.
The design of the hotel (shaped like an aeroplane) means you lose out on the sun at some point during the day - since the building blocks it.
POSITIVES
>>I was upgraded to a sea view room on arrival thanks to the nice receptionist who was very welcoming. This was the only welcoming experience I had at this hotel.
>>Lunch and dinner were the better meals of the day
