Sadly we still had to do business with this dealer...

Sadly we still had to do business with this dealer as they had the only inventory we were looking for in North County.

Bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee from this dealer. Sales person knew nothing about the Jeep, and knew nothing about dealer pricing not 100% his fault, he was new but he was being assisted by someone that was not new. Luckily, we already research most everything about the Jeep online before going there.

After settling on a price, the sales team printed an itemized sheet of what the taxes and out the door price would be (seems business as usual so far). Somehow that price was a couple thousand over what we just agreed upon after taxes. No where in the itemized price breakdown was anything additional listed. Come to find out they charge every customer for this expensive S.A.F.E vehicle tracking system they are "forced" to put in all their vehicles to easily keep track of all their vehicles in their inventory. No other dealer we went to seemed to have these systems so I find it hard to believe it was forced upon them, I get why its nice for a dealer to have, but when we say we don't want that item and never agreed to purchase such an item they explain that either way we will be charged for it to cover their cost of buying and installing the system. If we remove the system they increase our base price by $2,000, if we keep the system they still charge us $2,000. These shading practices are exactly why this dealer will lose business. My guess is most people don't notice these price differences though since the way the add them in with the taxes seems like its just normal adjustments from base price to out the door price. If you do notice, the sales manger tries to make you feel stupid for not understanding (possible the sales team should have told us about this upfront). We expressed our concern to the sales manager who could really care less but as I stated upfront they had the inventory we wanted.

A few weeks later, I get an email from the president of my company saying someone at Jack Powell is requesting information from you and some contact info. How is it that we went through all the documentation in the purchase process for both me and my wife and not one of our phone numbers or email accounts are used to contact us? The president of my company is NOT a receptionist, it is completely ridiculous that this ever occurred in the first place. Apparently every piece of information they had on file for us was entered in wrong by the sales team. Additionally, it seems our sales files are different then the finance files since we have been communicating perfectly fine with that department for weeks. The meaning of the call was to get proof of lease agreement from a previous car so the dealer can claim some $1,000 rebate we knew nothing about. Seems the sales team forgot to mention this as well as it was their responsibility to get this information from us. This would have not been a big deal upfront if the sales team actually was upfront about everything in general.

In short, I would not ever do business with this dealer if you have the option. They don't give you all the information upfront and they try to slip charges by you with no explanation. The sales team is unprofessional and not competent in the jobs they are getting paid for. We felt like they were only there to push merchandise. They will not be getting any business from us in their service department because of this.

Hopefully this can be helpful to others so they can avoid this place.
