After my old VW Jetta, which I loved dearly, was totaled in a tremendous hail storm, I was in the market for a new (used) car. I knew I wanted another VW, but I was struggling trying to decide what model I wanted. I went to multiple dealerships across VA and encountered persistent car sales men who would blow up my phone multiple times a day. Most made me feel uncomfortable, ensuring that they could get a VW preowned certification on a vehicle I was interested in by tomorrow. I met with one gentlemen in Richmond during the beginning of my search who told me "if this wasn't the car I was going to buy, then I shouldn't waste my time or his time because he was on commission." He never gave me a walk around and offered to let me "drive it around the parking lot because he didn't want to get his dealer tag." Needless to say, the experience was growing old quickly and I felt like I was back at square one. I went to a CarMax to check out multiple makes and models and fell in love with the VW Tiguan. It had everything I wanted and all the features I never knew I needed. I did more and more research and set out to look at 3 dealerships in the northern Virginia area. I went to Sheehy first and the nice lady at reception paged Bill. I told him about the Tiguan I saw online which must have just arrived because it hadn't even been through detail. The rims were all cut up and it wasn't in the best condition. Bill immediately said he wouldn't feel comfortable selling this one to me and I didn't feel comfortable buying it. We looked at two more options and went for a test drive. I loved the cars, but I wanted to weigh my options and visit some other dealerships. We exchanged cell phone numbers and parted ways. The next dealership was terrible. I couldn't get out of there fast enough! I called Bill on the way home and let him know the terrible experience I had (again) and that I would be in touch later in the week. Bill stayed in communication via text which took so much pressure off the situation instead of constant phone calls and emails. I went back later in the week to purchase the Tiguan and have loved every minute of owning the car. Thank you Bill and thanks Sheehy for saving my first car buying experience!!
