I've always been a NASA nut. So I am, admittedly a little biased. But I found this place very interesting. My wife, who does not share my fascination with NASA, reports to me, that she found it interesting. I think that is because it is not all about space stuff.
For example, before you enter the visitor center building, the is a "Bio-Indicator Garden", where they demonstrate how ozone, at the surface of the Earth, has an adverse effect on certain plants, causing them to deform, and how we can use them to warn us of excess ozone, which is harmful to humans, as well. Wallops Flight Center uses sounding missiles, to measure these gases, directly.
You really need to visit this place. Best of all, it's FREE! Well, it's supported by your taxes, a very good use, IMHO, so you may as well get the most out of it. Do go, though. Take your kids. A great teaching moment will result.
