Since Off Lease Only advertises themselves as a no haggle, no dealer fees dealership, I went into this purchase with my guard down thinking that this would be a simple transaction. My mistake. Their finance department utilizes some of the sleaziest techniques I have ever seen while buying a car. Their sales contract does not separate the price of the car and sales tax. It is only shown as the price of the car including sales tax. So you don t expect any hidden fees to be in there. They added $638 to my contract and disguised it as sales tax. After waiting about 8 hours outside with no A/C to get into the finance department to finalize my purchase I was exhausted and just wanted to sign and go home. I didn t discover the $638 until the next day when I was looking over the contract. I sent an email to the finance manager thinking that this was a mistake. After several emails to the finance manager and the general manager over a period of a few months the finance manager finally sent a vague response saying that the $638 was for something called Auto Armor . He said that this was a supplemental warranty that covers the interior upholstery and what not. Since there was no mention of Auto Armor when I was in the finance department and no mention of it on my sales contract, and since I never agreed to purchase anything called Auto Armor and it was hidden in the sales contract without my knowledge I requested in writing to the finance manager and general manager that this money be refunded to me. To this day I have not received a response nor have I received any kind of paperwork for the $3,500 extended warranty that I purchased. I was told by the finance manager that the warranty card and documentation would be mailed to me. I called the warranty company and they said that it is the dealerships responsibility to provide all warranty documentation. Again after repeated emails to the finance manager and general manager I still have no warranty paperwork. The vehicle that we purchased was for my daughter who had a non-existent credit history. The finance manager used this as an excuse to fluff the interest rate. All dealerships do this; it is a common and legal practice for them to receive kick backs from lenders, but off lease only takes this to a new extreme working only with shady lenders who allow them to fluff interest rates 2 to 3 times the buy rate. My Advice, if you are going to buy a car here, obtain your own financing before you go to the dealership. Get out your calculator and double check every line of the contract before signing. Have them give you a temporary tag and register the vehicle yourself, they typically charge about 5 times what it actually costs to register the vehicle. Make sure all issues are resolved before you leave the dealership. Once the sale is complete, these people don t care about you. Also, don t bother waiting for a post purchase survey to express your grievances. This company doesn t bother to follow up on customer satisfaction.
