I actually started at RCFG back in September 2018 - not many people will believe it as it took me 4 months to get the bug.

I first spoke on the phone to Dan about coming to try out the box not knowing anything about CrossFit itself - I just liked the idea of group classes. I used to do functional training classes before I moved to Gloucestershire from up North. I had started to really miss training in this environment and was going to the gym less and less. I played hockey twice week and committed myself to 3 times a week at CrossFit.

My biggest fear once I had joined was any WOD with running involved in it. I used to un book these classes straight away. I didn t want to be judged. But Dan was on the case to me every time Mate, why have you unbooked? Come along and try it, we can scale it down to help you improve.

The support from every coach is incredible. My confidence soon grew and I realised no one was there to judge; everyone is really encouraging and supportive. I now attend running WODS - even if I do worry to begin with, the coaches soon persuade you to complete it.

In fact I went from going 2-3 times a week to attending the gym 5-6 times a week, sometimes twice in a night. I haven t even got back to hockey this season due to injury but the coaches at the gym have helped me train everyday still by altering all the workouts. Nothing is too much to ask. My favourite session is Barbell - Liam has really invested the time to help me improve this skill and I love the fact he is so passionate about helping people improve.

My favourite thing about Glevum is I have made some of the best friends for life.
When I moved down from Cheshire, I didn t know anyone but Charlie. Glevum is the social
community I was missing. I love the social events inside and outside the gym. This is one of the main reasons I love going to the Box everyday.

I also persuaded Charlie, my boyfriend, to join and it has changed his outlook on exercise too. Our hobbies now include watching the CrossFit games on the tv and training together at the gym.

I could keep going on but I won t bore you anymore. Come and give it ago yourself!
