I had a stroke back in 2013. It was my 2nd stroke, 1st one was 2008. Went to St John's, came in through the ER. After giving medical history, was there about 2 hours and was discharged by the neuro doctor who never even came in to my room.

I went to my Primary Care doctor who was furious they discharged me and didn't provide the "stroke busting drug." He called the hospital and told them to admit me because I had a stroke. So back to the hospital they admitted me.

I went to St Johns because of all the advertisements on TV and the newspaper that they were supreme in treating stroke patients. Well they may be if you have insurance.

I didn't have insurance and I feel that is the reason they sent me home. I am disabled today because of their lack of care. My 1st stroke I made a 95% recovery. My 1st stroke I went to St Francis. Their care and the rehab department is way superior to St Johns.

I do not recommend St Johns unless the new group who took them over has had staff changes, extensive retraining and improved their rehab department.

I will give kudos that they let my husband bring my Yorkie to visit to lift my spirits.

If I could give minus "5" stars, I would do so.

If in the event you choose to go to St Johns and you feel you are not getting the care you need, call your insurance company and asked to be transferred to another hospital.

If the patients are not happy, the insurance company will re-consider being contracted with that hospital.

Many years ago Cigna didn't contract with St Johns because they couldn't come to an agreement on contracted rates. Yes....it is all about the bottom line.
