I have always enjoyed coming into your store and talking to your incredibly nice and knowledgeable staff. Since learning about your store, I have always preferred to buy the majority of my pool chemicals and supplies from you and support your small business. This is a tough time for everyone and we are all feeling the stress in different ways.

However a few days ago (5/19/20) was a completely different situation...

Like any other time, I walked in with my pool sample and was gladly asked if I needed a test. To which I said yes. Once the results were ready the lady behind the counter suggested that I need several bags of salt. I asked a few additional questions as the results were being printed off. Only after I asked was I also told that the PH and Alkalinity were low and then offered a product for that. I responded something to the effect of "no thank you I have Baking Soda for that".

It was at this time that the lady behind the desk started lecturing me about how the tests are free with the idea that customers buy their products... how shes been sacrificing and working every day since the stay-at-home order started, and how is a small business suppose to stay open when people like me go and buy products from big stores like Wal-Mart.. and then suggested why don't I just go there instead.

I stood there for a second awestruck at what had happened. I then responded "whoa whoa whoa, what do you mean, I just said I wanted to buy 12 bags of salt. I feel like your being a bit rude." That was when not just the lady I was talking to, but also the man behind the counter, piped up and said "Yea, well it goes both ways".. I stood there for another second still dumb founded by what was taking place. Then I simply said "Thank you" and left my pool bottle and pool test on the counter and walked out.

This is not how you treat customers. I understand if someone is being difficult or complaining. But all I did was say "No Thank You" to something you were suggesting while still wanting to purchase something else.

Further more, you have no idea about other peoples personal situations (both financial and health related). We have ALL been affected by this pandemic in different ways. So to get that frustrated over the refusal of a $20 product when I am looking to buy $120 worth of salt is strait up RIDICULOUS!

What you didn't realize is in addition I was also going to buy a new pool hose and a discharge hose. Which most likely would have doubled the over all sale.

So with that I would end on this: I am not happy with the way things ended and I hope your small business IS able to weather the economic storm this pandemic has brought with it. But, now, it will have to do it with one less customer. I know people have bad days. I had attempted to call and speak with the owner about this prior to writing this letter.
