I wouldn't even give this terrible school 1 star. The deputy head (now headmaster) was known as The Discipline Manager. There is no understanding of children with special needs despite their claim to have a good SEN department. The children look tired and subdued on the way to school and go stir crazy on the way home.

The school is just a factory for getting good results in the league tables, has no pastoral care and as a Grandparent who had to visit the school to collect my Grandchild, I was treated with hostility despite the fact the receptionist didn't know what my business was with the school other than the fact I had an appointment with the year mistress.

On his first day in the first year of the Academy my grandchild's parents made a mistake over the starting date and realised after school started that first morning. They rang the school to explain their mistake but the child was put in detention for being late!!! This was the child's first day having moved from a small primary school! No allowances were made for the parents fault.

My Grandchild had a twitching tick that could not be controlled - when the children laughed the child was made to stand outside the door for disrupting the class rather than the other children being remonstrated with for being unkind.

Children are put into 'school prison' for misbehaviour where they stay for days and sometimes weeks on end not learning anything.

Ashcroft Academy is not a school but a boot camp and I was so relieved when we moved my grandchild, who wasn't learning anything to another school where A's and B's were obtained at GCSE and A level and a University place at one of the top Universities in the UK.
