I purchased entry tickets online to skip the queue, and it saved a lot of time! The self-guided audio tour was very well done and allowed one the opportunity to savor a room prior to moving to the next. There are some readily visible rough spots where paint is peeling on window frames and window sills. Can't imagine what the upkeep and maintenance actually cost. France has so very many historical treasures and a limited budget, but I hope they can maintain the national treasures for generations to come.
