I have been a patient of Tufts for a couple of decades receiving all of my medical care there and recently decided to go elsewhere. While my PCP and OBGYN offices provided excellent care, their Dermatology Dept specifically was pretty bad. But, the main reason I decided to go somewhere else is because their billing practices, in my opinion, border on illegal. I have had an open dispute with them for over six months about a procedure that I was specifically told that I would not be billed for. Over the last 7 months I have sent a couple of letters, a handful of emails and about a dozen calls trying to get a status on the dispute. Their dispute dept. never reached out or even reviewed the matter until I sent a letter to the CEO 6 months in. Everytime I called I was told that the dispute had not been reviewed and that there was no indication that they even looked at the case, thought they had all the notes from my previous calls. When they finally did the review their decision was based on completely incorrect and false information. I responded immediately and now I'm back to waiting to hear from them. In the meantime they are now telling me that this will go into collections soon if I don't pay. Can I pay? Yes. But that's really not the point. It's really the principle. And while this is just one incident the experience has been so incredibly negative that I refuse to give them any more of my money. I suggest you do the same and save yourself some serious headaches.
