We (couple, 26) stayed at the Albatros Citadel Sahl Hasheesh for a week in March 2020!

The hotel shines with its unique architecture, which is staged by light effects, especially in the evening, you feel like you are in a castle. The beach and pools are nice. On the beach there are many smaller lagoons for swimming, behind them there are small reefs for snorkeling (bathing shoes recommended). The hotel is spacious and good for long walks. The rooms are nice and large, all have at least a partial sea view. There are several bars with music or sports broadcasts in the evening, as well as a shisha bar.

Criticisms:
- The staff is sometimes slow and unfriendly or only nice after tips. Especially at the reception you don't feel welcome right away. You can order a drink, by the time it comes you have already eaten - better get it yourself. The staff speak many languages!
- The food is mostly freshly prepared but with few changes. There is often the same thing in the evening and at noon. There are several fixed stations (e.g. pizza, spaghetti, egg station) where food is prepared on request. There are 2 restaurants (general & asia) that can be visited without reservation, 2 (Arabic & Italian) that can be visited with reservation and one (mediterran / asia) that can be visited for an extra charge. All of them are ok but taste pretty similar
- The drinks in the disco must be paid for.
- The evening shows in the amphitheater were mediocre. Mainly competitions between spectators. Sketch shows were rather embarrassing.

We cannot judge animation & spa, we did not take part. We can't judge the reef because it was too cold / windy to go snorkeling.
