Purchased a new $78k vehicle from Younger Toyota over the weekend. Drove over 100 miles because it was a very competitive price. The SUV itself was excellent and exactly as described. Salesperson I dealt with was very personable. The F&I manager I met with was also excellent and she did not attempt to pressure me at all. That entire portion of the sale went great.
Issues I had while at the dealership.:
Was quoted $58k+ in trade over phone after sending pictures & VIN of my vehicle. Final trade number was actually $56k after some haggling. My mistake for not getting a CarMax offer prior to trading my vehicle. My trade-in is currently for sale on their lot for $68.5k. (not upset that dealership will make a profit; just didn t appreciate listening to sales staff tell me my vehicle was the wrong color, tough sale, standard lowball tactics, etc.)
MAJOR ISSUE occurred after sale was completed. The salesman offered to put my front plate on my new vehicle, then accidentally broke off a small piece of the front bumper trying to install the license plate with a drill. Sales manager came out and did not appear concerned because the broken piece would be hidden behind the front plate. Sales manager specifically stated the only way to fix would be to install a new front bumper, which he was not willing to do. Granted the broken piece was less than an inch long but Younger s staff did break a new $78k vehicle. Salesman was nice enough to give me two Toyota hats on my way out the door.
I am still frustrated with the way the bumper damage was handled, although I am very pleased with the quality of the vehicle and price I paid. Usually my experiences at Toyota dealerships are either very positive or very negative. However, this was truly a mixed experience. I would be willing to buy from Younger again, but I will do a better job researching my trade prior to making another trip to Hagerstown, MD.
Positives: great price on new vehicle, personable sales staff, very nice F&I manager.
Negatives: broken front bumper on $78k new vehicle, lower trade offer than verbal quote
Recommendations to all: get a written, competing quote on your trade-in, especially if driving any distance to Younger Toyota.
