I visited Versailles palace and gardens over 30 years ago and was really awed by its history and beauty. Fast forward 30 years and now, at least during the Summer months, the place is basically overrun by tourists. To us, very unfortunately, Versailles palace and gardens now somewhat has the feel of a tourist trap. There are other, more accessible places in Paris and surrounding areas to learn about and take in the feel of the history of French aristocracy.
