Knoebel's gets my vote as the single greatest family amusement park in the country. There, I said it, and I'm not engaging in hyperbole here. It is not the biggest park, it doesn't have the newest and most thrilling rides, but what it does do is focus on providing a great time for family members of all ages, and respects its customer base by not gouging them at every opportunity they get (Six Flags, Disney, Universal, I'm looking at you...).
There's not too much to say that other reviewers haven't already covered. Free parking. Free admission. Affordable and DELICIOUS food. Pay per ride or by ride all day hand stamps (weekdays only). Go after 6 on Bargain nights, and ride as much as you want for $10 for adults of $7.50 for kids (roller coasters & Haunted House excluded).
I've been going to Knoebel's for over 35 years now. I drive 3 to 4 hours per direction for the privilege. I live 15 minutes from Great Adventure. Haven't been back in years. Just came back from spending two days at the park with my wife and 2 1/2 year old. Even with hotel and gas, it was still a good deal cheaper than one day at Six Flags.
If I had to summarize Knoebel's, I call it a safer, cleaner State Fair on steroids, without "Carnys" running the rides and games. If you're an ultimate adrenaline junkie, this isn't really the park for you (even though their two wooden coasters routinely end up on the ACE top-10 list), but if you want to have a great time and wonderful memories with your whole family, try it once and I think you'll be hooked.
