We were at the Woodland Park Zoo in the late morning and actually saw very few animals. I assume the majority of the animal's had their morning feed and then hid away to nap out of sight of zoo visitors. It would probably be wise to visit this zoo as early as possible or in the late afternoon so you could actually see the animals.
The walking trails were nice with lovely trees and plants. The food area had a nice variety of food and the gift shop was large. It being summer there were large groups of young children (with chaperones) gathered at every animal viewing station making it really difficult to view the very few animals that were awake and active. This zoo had very few interactive opportunities and I saw no personnel stationed at exhibits to answer questions. There were signs to read with a bit of info at each exhibit but no audio recordings or computer stations. If there was an online gps tour or guided tour I saw no information about it. I did receive a paper map. In a tech area like Seattle I'd anticipated a bit more of an advanced experience. The website does offer live webcam feeds for some of the animals, so I managed to view a few of the animals online in the days after my zoo visit.
If you ever have an opportunity to visit the San Diego Zoo please do, it's a five star experience. If you're in Baltimore and have children the Baltimore Zoo offers a very interactive and child friendly educational experience.
