The museum and the art are beautiful. I went with a tour guide who gave great information and seemed to have a passion for history. There were thousands of people at the Vatican so it made navigating each section challenging, and slowed us down a bit. We were still able to learn about the history take pictures. You can probably get away with purchasing individual tickets and an audio guide directly from the Vatican, if you want to move at your own pace. You will still have to wait in line for security, even if you bought skip the line tickets. The queue does move rather quickly, given that there are thousands trying to get it. Wear comfortable shoes!
