I loved this palace! The gardens were definitely my favorite part of the entire tour. Makes me jealous that I was unable to live here. Make sure you devote an entire day to this trip. And make sure you have appropriate train tickets if you are coming in from main Paris on the train as this is outside the main ticket for zones 1-3.

We were visiting Europe late February-early March and came on the first Sunday of the month where many museums throughout Europe are free. This turned out to be a great deal as it is 30 per person for tickets. Even though it was cold and rainy we waited at least an hour, hour and a half in line outside to be able to enter.

Once you enter, there are audio tours available which play automatically as you enter each room.

The palace was beautiful and captures your imagination of life in the 17th century. There are many rooms that you can walk through including the grand apartments of the King and Queen. The Queen's apartment was under renovation and therefore currently closed off to the public. The Hall of Mirrors is certainly enchanting especially to think in the time it was created. The other rooms house grand paintings, especially those on the ceiling.

The gardens were beautiful. I can't even imagine how they would be in their original grandeur. It was unfortunate that we came in winter and unable to experience all parts of the gardens.

Overall, this was my favorite site during our Paris trip and definitely worth the trek out to Versailles.
