Attending a conference here. What wasn't mentioned to us is that there is a Doberman conference here at the same time. Hundreds of dogs are everywhere, and I learned this place hosts this dog conference every year.
And the bad part is, that means these dogs are sleeping in the guest rooms. And likely have slept in my room in the past. As a result, my nose is getting stuffed up every night. The carpets on the room are stale smelling. The food here is mediocre and they do not have gluten free options obvious. To that point, however, the staff is fantastic and is trying to do the best they can with the limitations here. If you are not a golfer, there is not a whole lot to do here. The dogs are disruptive to our meetings. Don't get me wrong: I love dogs. But I am a strong believer in not impinging my dog on others. The lack of hot water for showering in the morning has been a problem. Today the water was yellow coming out of the taps and had a strong sulfur smell. Conclusions: if you need a place with friendly staff and don't mind the tired and outdated facilities, this is fine. But it is probably not the best place for large groups or folks with special dietary needs.
Follow up: after I posted this review, I had lunch and the staff (who continue to be excellent) did have a gluten free option for me. And I do appreciate this!
I will add this: Jambalaya makes great mojitos, period.
Increasing to three stars due to the excellent staff response.
