My wife's father died. She desperately needed a get away so we picked up and left Austin on Thursday thinking. There was no planning involved. We hopped in the car with no specific destination and bags backed for a few days. When we ended up at the front desk if the Winstar, we were met with absolutely rude and unprofessional staff. We were told that Winstar was full. There was no conversation about ," let's see if we can find something for you." Or " let's see if we can find something close where you can stay so that you can still spend a couple of days with us."

Nothing. Blank looks. Sorry about you. Move out of the way so we can check in the next guest and move on with our day.

We hoped back in the car and drove another 45 minutes to Choctaw. Where we were met with friendly staff who went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was amazing.

The Spa is a must, I'm not into that sort of thing but I wanted to treat my wife. It was truly impressive.

Room service was fantastic. The pricetag was exorbitant, but it is to be expected. I had the ribeye and the garlic butter was still melting when it was served. I'd pay double for the caramel brownie.

To summarize. It will be a very cold day before I stay with Winstar when there are so many other choices available.

Choctaw, thank you. We needed that.
