MNP is expensive and in some areas incompetent. One year i was charged nearly $1,700 for a fairly simple return. When i had a question re an additional CRA assessment of $200 and asked MNP for advice, they simply told me to pay the charge and billed me $600 for the advice. Yes, i paid $600 to be advised to pay $200.

Worse, after preparing my taxes, MNP provided no advice re installment payments and it cost me $10,000 in penalties and interest. MNP claimed that a form letter they sent me that contained no mention of my current situation was sufficient "duty of care". They basically hung me out to dry. When i asked to speak with a tax partner re this unreasonable position, no one would return my calls.

There are many better tax preparation firms out there.
