Rescued a dog from down south, turned out to have heartworm. The humane society did nothing to help with the thousand dollar treatment costs.
Also, had another dog that we had to find a new home for due to aggression. We called the Humane Society and they wouldn't do an intake for several weeks.
Last but not least, I showed up at 11:56 to pick up my wife who volunteers. I went to look at the dogs while I waited but couldn't come in because they didn't open till 12:00 pm. At 11:59 I asked for the time and they told me I had to wait one more minute before they would let me in.
All of this and my wife has been a volunteer for over a year and we've donated quite a bit financially to DCHS as well. Needless to say both of those stopped.
