L Garin Review of Magnolia Farms
Wonderful, fun and family friendly atmosphere.
Wonderful, fun and family friendly atmosphere.
My family of three (husband, our 2 year old and me) visited Waco during April 2018 and the Silo's was the one place we/I wanted to go to "fan out" on everything Fixer Upper.
Parking: there are signs for $10 parking pretty much everywhere around the venue, but you can park in the Free lot located right next to the Silo's OR find street parking (just read the signs carefully). On our first visit we found parking on the street just a couple of blocks from the Silo's and on our second trip we located their free parking lot.
After parking, our first stop was the Silos Baking Co. where we ordered such delicious and decadent cookies (they ranged in price between $2.50-$3.50) and cupcakes ($3.50 each). Just note, the line could get pretty long, hut it goes by fast. Staff is there handing out pencils and menu cards describing each product. All you have to do is mark the ones you want and how many you need so when your ready to order, that process goes by quickly. We had the fillowing:
-Lemon Lavender cupcake (lemon & lavender vanilla cake + lemon buttercream icing)
-Jo's HBD Cupcake, since it was her birthday week we had to try it (it was a confetti cake with sprinkles)
-Silo's Cookie @$2.50 (a classic chocolate chip cookie + peanut butter chips & walnuts)
-Classic Chocolate Chip @$2.50
-Classic Sugar Cookie @$2.50 (butter rich suggar cookie with sugar crystals)
-House Blend Coffee @$2.50
The cupcakes were moist, but had too much frosting for my taste, but my husband would probably disagree. It all depends on how you like your cupcakes. The cookies were a good balance of sweetness and were such a good size to share with another person. The coffee was just ok.
Our next stop was the Magnolia Market. It got really packed to the point where my husband and son had to leave me to do the shopping while they stepped outside to enjoy the AstroTurf playing soccer. The store is a decent size with a ton of home decor. The staff assured me that everything in the store are solely sold there and Jo's Heart and Hearth line is solely Target, etc. I just shopped for souvenirs (t-shirts @$26-30, hat's $25-20, totes $15- $60, mugs $15+, and candles$28+).
Next stop was their seed and feed store. It was a cute little space, filled with garden decor and some succulents and a small supply of seeds. There's a garden right next to the store that has beautiful roses and some veggie garden boxes. It was just such a cute quaint space.
Lastly, we enjoyed the outdoor family space where we played corn hole, soccer, and just layed out drinking sweet tea. One our first visit it was extremely windy. I wasn't expecting so much wind, so watch out for things flying at you.
All in all, our experience was enjoyable. Chip and Jo did such an amazing job building a place for families to just chill, eat and have fun.
