Had an approved application on file, went to the shelter (which had crates on top of crates, dogs just barking/screaming to get out), found a puppy my girls were very interested in. I let the volunteer know that we were interested in "Kramer", the volunteer told me to contact Anna. I did. We waited. I decided to drive back over to the shelter that night, I texted Ana that we were coming back, finally a phone call back, she tells me "Kramer" had been re-homed the previous weekend.
I guess the volunteer staff was un-aware of this. She also informed me that my application for was for another dog (that snapped at my 6 year old), so basically I was at square one, and that a home visit was required. Now, considering how these poor animals are living, in small kennels all day and all night, would it not be better to let a nice family adopt them that had already been approved??? It makes me wonder if they really want the dogs adopted or not.
FYI, "Kramer" is still on the web-page as are other dogs that I specifically wrote to Ana about, as my girls were very interested. I ended up buying a puppy from someone on craigslist. I can say I tried very hard to work with this organization, however I don't think they are interested in re-homing these animals, very difficult to communicate with and super difficult.
I appreciate what that they save these dogs from the streets, but to not allow a nice family to give one of their dogs/pups a nice, warm, loving home seems super un-reasonable to me.
Thanks, but no thanks. This type of hassle is what keeps the pet stores in business.
