CVE didn't come highly recommended (in fact our realtor directed us away from them) but I thought I would give it a shot. Explored their website, but not a lot of information there. No costs or prices for models, the floorplans have no detail, etc. Used their website interface to send an email - six months later, no response. Tried again recently, still no response after a week. Decided to call and talk to them just to see - when you're talking about a home, hundreds of thousands of dollars, and a thirty year investment, leave no avenue unexplored, right? The person who answered the phone asked me a couple questions, told me it wasn't likely we could build with them, then transferred me to someone else for "more specific pricing information". After five solid minutes on hold for the other person, I get blank air for a minute, then a rude "Hello?" Introduced myself, he interrupted to ask what I wanted - not how he could help, but "what do you want?" like I was interrupting more important work. I explained a little of the situation, asked if he could send me some basic costs (like "this model starts at this price") and he flat out told me they wouldn't send that kind of information and I'd need to come in because he had a "booklet" I could look at. Then he told me he'd need to put me on hold again to go get his stuff because he was upstairs and the information was downstairs. Back on hold I go, at which point I ended the call. Absolutely dirt-poor customer service all the way around. Between the website setup and the representative's attitude it felt like they wanted me to be totally dependent on their "knowledge" and intentionally wanted to keep me ignorant of what costs actually go into a house. It didn't feel like they wanted me involved as a home buyer at all - more like they wanted to hand me a final bill and I'd just sign off and miss all the extra "costs" they slipped in.
