So I ve stayed in some very nice hotels in Edinburgh and in places like New York, LA, Singapore and Melbourne, so I have a fairly solid set of expectations when it comes to luxury . On arrival we were greeted by welcoming staff, mulled wine and mini mince pies. This was all great and a good start. We stayed in a Double Premier room, but sadly it faced an office block and not the castle. Next there was someone else s luggage in the room and we had to have the concierge come and remove it. Small problems so far. Next however we found that the bathroom window would not close all the way, so it was always cold even with the heating on. And then to finish the list of disappointments, the door of the room had a small gap and you could hear a whistling/whirring as you stood near the door. The sound went away once you pushed the door even further closed but it didn t stay there. Those 4 issues aside. Breakfast was good the next day and we left happy with our stay but I won t be coming back. Anybody reading this, I d recommend the Balmoral instead. None of these problems.
